Okay, so my children go to a daycare that is run by an after school childcare program through the local public school district. My friend whose child attends that daycare has chicken pox. She selectively and delayed vaccinates and I do not at all. The school nurse that has jurisdiction over the daycare because it is run by the school district called her today and told her that now she has to have her son get all of his vaccinations or he wont be able to go to school or daycare anywhere (which I know isn't true). She also specifically mentioned that her child could not come back to daycare because my children had not had the vax. And also that if she didn't vax at all (like me) they wouldn't be able to do anything, but since her son has had some he has to have them all?! WTF!? Is it not illegal for her to disclose personal medical information without consent? My friend knew, of course, but Im pretty sure that doesn't matter. Also, we are in Washington state. The only thing i have ever done regarding paperwork is to sigh a little exemption form saying that I am religiously or philosophically opposed for the daycare to have on file. Is there any other exemption that needs to be filed through the government or anything? What do you suggest we do? Why are they now treating chicken pox like it is so terribly dangerous. Even when I was born 19 years ago most people I knew did not get the chicken pox vax and did indeed get chicken pox! Its terrible and itchy, but not usually dangerous at all! What is this person thinking? I don't know if I left out anything I'm kind of frazzled. Ask if you need any more information. Thank you.

My friend will be back at school tomorrow and her son can go back to daycare. We will still follow up on the HIPPA violation. And make sure that all of the daycare staff and the nurse are informed of the laws regarding vaccination exemptions in our state to avoid that happening to people in the future. Hopefully. Does anybody have a link to those specific laws?
