Anyone have their membranes stripped?

Did it bring on labor? If so how long after the procedure did active labor start? Did the cramping/contractions etc... just keep going and turn into active labor?

If it didn't work, how long did it take for the cramps/contractions etc.. to go away?

Thanks a million, midwife stripped my membranes today and MAN oh MAN am I uncomfy. I have been having contractions for DAYS that come at regular intervals but then fizzle out so she thought this might help get and keep things going

Love ANY and ALL experiences

Hope people respond! I'm considering the same thing...the MW mentioned it today because they want me to schedule an induction no later than next Monday if I don't go into labor before then.

Did it hurt when she stripped yours?

I haven't had it done, but my midwife said if it is going to work, it will work in 24 hours.

My mw said the same thing re: 24 hours. I had it done multiple times with both previous pregnancies and it didn't start labor for me, but there was a definite psychological benefit and I DID go into active labor already partially dilated both times, which, again, was psychologically useful to me.

I tend of everything we do/have done the weeks leading up to birth as a total mindf%$k, in case you haven't noticed.

I've had it done in different labors. It worked with one of them at 13 days overdue (and it wasn't the first time they stripped them that pregnancy). She stripped them that morning and he was born that night after 9pm. Again, though, it wasn't the first time I'd been stripped that pregnancy. It's one of those things, if body/baby is ready, it will work. If not, it's pain/irritation for nothing. (And some say if it won't work, it doesn't hurt. It was always irritable to me, regardless, though and *almost always* had bloody show afterwards.)

I am going to ask my MW to do it for me tomorrow.

I had it done last Wednesday. I was 39 weeks 1 day. One centimeter dilated. I had contractions throughout the weekend. I bled a bunch that day, but it stopped by evening. I lost my mucous plug Thursday and Friday and Saturday. All weekend strong contractions, but no regularity. Then yesterday, nothing. Today... MY DUE DATE I am having lots of strong contractions, but alas, no regularity again. I have another OB appt. tomorrow morning so she will strip them again. Hopefully I am more than one centimeter dilated!!!! I AM SO READY!!!! ARGH! Anyway, good luck.

I had it done last Thursday at 40wks 6 days. I had contractions for two days and am still having bloody mucus...but no baby. I've heard that if it's going to work it will within 24-48hrs and that it works best if you are 2cm dilated. I did it with dd #2 at 40 weeks and 2 1/2 days later was in labor, also had it done with ds at 42wks and was in labor 2 days later.

My midwife stripped my membranes last week, I was 38wks, 2cm and 50%effaced. I lost my plug that day and the next day, and had a lot of pressure. That's it. She checked me again less than a week later and I was slightly more dilated, but not much. My body wasn't ready and it didn't do anything for me.

Just had it done today, praying it does something.

I had them stripped with DD (was already contracting regularly, just not strong) and went into labor that night after I went to bed. That was at 40 weeks 2 days, D was born the next day.

I had it done last Wed and Fri, and then again on Monday. Finally went into labor on Monday . CX started about 1 hr later, I could feel they were different. DH and I went walking for an hour and they were easy to get through but 2-3 min apart. I lay down and they spaced out. Then I took homeopathic Cimicifuga racemosa and went for another walk, with 15 min I couldn't walk through my cx!

I had it done this morning. The mw was amazingly gentle, despite having to actually *pull* my cervix down (it's apparently behind the baby's head?! I have no idea...). I was expecting to have the urge to hit her because I'm that sensitive about internals usually. It wasn't that bad at all...but I'm sure it had a lot to do w/ the individual midwife.
Either way, so far I've had no bloody show and just a few contractions but immediately after I stood up, it felt like the baby dropped between my legs. I've been leaking pee all day! lol! And about ten minutes ago, I had a whopping ctx that made me think this could be the night...so we'll see. Here's hoping it works!

Oh and when she did it, she said my cervix was "very soft" and that I was 2cm, could stretch to 3.

I had it done again yesterday at 41wks 5 days, no bloody mucus and hardly any contractions this time...I hope baby is ready this time!
