I want to do silhouettes of my children. Is there a simple way of making these? is there a program I can use? thanks for your help.

One night before bed, darken the room and tape a piece of white paper on the wall. Have your kid sit down in a chair in front of the paper, then shine a light on their heads so that they made a shadow. Carefully trace their heads onto the paper, while they hold really still. The next morning, have them cut out their "heads," then trace the white piece onto a piece of black paper. Cut that piece out and mount on a white piece of paper. Done.

BTW- you can make a history lesson out of this by researching how kids of old used to make these for entertainment before TV and electricity.

This is how I did it: I took several digital photos of my DD (from the side, of course). I picked the best photo, and used Photoshop. I used selection tools to outline the head and stylized the bottom of the silhouette and the hair where necessary. Then I turned the background white and the silhouette black. I used the magnifying glass to get the size I wanted on the computer screen, and then traced in onto white paper. I cut with an exacto knife and used the pattern to trace onto the paper for the finished project, then used an exacto knife and rubber cement to finish.

It works good for a little one who can't sit still to do it with a projector.

I opened up a digital profile picture of DS and taped a piece of paper to the computer monitor to trace the silhouette. After it was cut out, I traced in onto fabric and framed it. Here's the tutorial I used:

It turned out cute and I gave it to DH for father's day last year. HTH.
