Anyone else love both Stephanie Plum and Sookie Stackhouse?

The more I read the Sookie Stackhouse books, the more similar I think they are to the Stephanie Plum books. Which I love. :

Both accidental detectives with multiple adoring hunky guys after them. Now Sookie's even got a built-like-a-brick-outhouse crush who calls her "Babe." My heart does a little Ranger flip whenever I read that.

Anybody else love both these series? If so, which boyfriend(s) do you root for? For Stephanie, I'm a Ranger girl all the way. For Sookie, I'm stuck between Eric and Quinn (I just finished "Definitely Dead.")

I am on book 2 with Sookie and never read Stephanie Plum. Off to google!

Huge Sookie fan. I am so excited that the next book came out. : I am going to google Stephanie Plum too. Have you read Meredith Gentry books. More great stuff but Sookie is still my fav.

Not sure how to do the black bar for spoilers so I will leave a big space for those that haven't read all of Sookie.......................

Call me crazy but I like Bill. I know... I know what he did was NOT cool. But I still feel that there is still a chance with them. When they were together it was so sweet. I do admit that Eric gets my heart pumping though.

I LOVE Stephanie Plum! I haven't read the last book but I'll get to it soon enough.

I haven't read the Sookie Stackhouse books yet but I'm a fan of True Blood.

A PP mentioned Meredith Gentry, who I'm kind of meh on. I used to love Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series and while the Meredith Gentry character isn't too bad, I didn't love that character's story as much as the earlier Anita stories. Too bad the Anita series has been derailed to the point where I'm no longer excited about them.

He just bugs the crap out of me. But that could be due to the TV series somewhat. That actor and his accent and the way he says, "Sook-eh" make me want to jump out the window!!!

I'm a Ranger fan! My sister got me a "Rangeman" t-shirt for Christmas this year, She got it from Janet Evaovitches web site. I looked for a thread about the series a couple months ago and didn't find any thing I think book 15 is due out this summer, I can't wait! Love Love Love it!

I've got to go google Sookie Stackhouse now, thanks for the tip.

That is awesome! I confess that I went to Nordstrom's specifically so I could smell the body wash Ranger uses. Evanovitch raves about it so much I thought it must be GOOD. I thought it smelled lovely, but definitely not my DH's cup of tea.

NO WAY!!! that's the coolest thing, I didn't know you could really buy it. I hope it's not too expensive so I can buy it for my sister. I can totally see her using it on Weekends. any chance you remember the name of it? I'd hate to ruin the surprise buy having to ask her to look up the name of it. She's got the Series at her house.

I am half way through the 9th Sookie Stackhouse book. It just came out and it's awesome, of course...

Hey..that was my 1000th post!!!

: Sookie is great fun!!! I'm always sad when one of her stories ends.

I haven't read the most recent book, I'm hoping to get it for my birthday or that my turn in the library queue will come soon! Is it good?!

I've never read any of the Janet Evanovich books but my BFF just read through the entire series and wants me to read them now. How do they compare?

I don't know how I missed this!

I've only seen the first two episodes because we don't have HBO and I watched them when I was visiting my dad but I could not STAND Bill! He is so much more charming in the book. In the TV show he gave me the heebie jeebies and made me want to take a shower. I wish they had picked a different actor....

It's Bulgari Green Tea Shower Gel. I can't remember how much it was at Nordstrom's, but when I googled it, I found this Ebay auction. I am LOL'ing that it's advertised as the shower gel Ranger wears! http://cgi.ebay.com/Bvlgari-Eau-Parf...3A1%7C294%3A50

Me, too. I only watched a bit of one episode while we've got free HBO, and I hated it. I did like Anna Paquin, but everyone else was creepy. The whole reason I like the books is that they're light and fun - I found the series very dark and gloomy.

I probably won't do justice to the comparison. But both heroines accidentally fall into solving mysteries. Sookie, though, has actual skills, whereas Stephanie accidentally fumbles into solving crimes. Both heroines have incredibly hunky guys pursuing them, whom they can't choose between. Stephanie and Sookie both have close relationships with their grandmothers. The Sookie Stackhouse books aren't LOL-funny like Stephanie Plum, but they're light reading.

I just got the 8th Sookie Stackhouse book from the library yesterday, and I can't wait to devour it! :

Just finished Sookie Stackhouse #2 last night (it was great!) and am number 102 for Club Dead from the library. Might have to just go and buy it. I haven't read Stephanie Plum but will be checking it out next.

General consensus is that it is good but honestly not the best Sookie book ever. I loved it, I sped through it in 5 hours. But a lot of my friends were disappointed. I think that they were a little thrown by it being different. Like, there's been lots of books about the vamps and their world and ones about the weres and their world... well, this is the fairy book. So if you don't dig the fae or you were hoping for more weres (me!) you could be disappointed.

BUT I think it's part of the story that needed to be told. My friend compared it to the episodes of Lost that answer a bunch of questions and then pose new ones, like a bridge.

Oh, thank goodness I'm not alone in this. I think they've got Bill all wrong in True Blood. Most of the vamps, really. But I'm still curious to see where it goes...
