this is the final schedule that i feel confidant for my 26 mth. old. I would like to put it out there and if i am blatantly overlooking something i would like to know.

26 mths. DTaP 1st dose (daptacel)
28 mths. DTaP 2nd dose
30 mths. DTaP 3rd dose
32 mths. PCV (prevnar) (only needs one does at this age)
4 yrs. DTaP 4th dose
5 yrs. Check immunity for m, m, and r, chickenpox, and hep a.
12 yrs. hep b (recombivax does 2 dose series)

i just feel like i need to get input and bounce this off of fellow mommies before i give the go ahead.

The only thing that jumps out at me is that according to CDC guidelines, the 4th dose of DTaP should be given after age 4 if you want to only have 4 doses instead of 5. But, you're not following their schedule anyway so maybe that was a conscious decision on your part.

Have you thought about having titers checked for hib before vaxing?

Have you confirmed w/ your peds that they carry the brands that you have listed?

I have called and asked, and they don't carry any of the ones I wanted except prevnar. So I asked if I could have them ordered and pay out of pocket and they said they have to use what they are given...I told them to have the dr call me and still haven't heard from him....

I would throw out there that the DTaP + Hib combination has been shown to be less effective than hib alone. I know I read an article on this somewhere but I don't have it readily available. I'll see what I can find for you on that.

Also, the DTaP #3 & #4 need to be at least 6 mos apart in the event you do decide to get that dose. Another thing is that it seems to me that Trihibit isn't supposed to be used for that 4th dose in a child who has never received hib vaccine. But this isn't one that I'm really familiar with so double check that.

If your doc is using VFC vaccine then he really is dependent on whatever the state sends him. Some docs do not purchase private stock vaccine from the manufacturer/distributor, they use the vaccine that is purchased by your state & dont pay anything for it. If this is the case for your doc then they may not even have accounts set up to be able to make make a purchase and they may not be willing to front that expense for ten doses of each vaccine you want.
