The only news 'round here is bad news - MIL's adored peekapoo seems to have a rapidly spreading form of cancer

I'm sorry for the dog, and sorry for myself too, bc MIL is a serious, serious dog lover and this news is going to distract her from 1) enjoying the new baby and 2) helping me out in the postpartum period.

That's a good birthdate. I've been feelign some slightly different pressure, had one contraction that didn't just feel like a BH, so we'll see....

Hang in there!
I was born on the 13th Nov. As a kid, I loved having birthday parties on Friday the 13th. My parents would dress the room up like halloween and give me a pumpkin or witch cake

I'm joining in today because I always forget to join the chat thread!

39 weeks tomorrow and feeling very much ready to labour now. I have days where I have no energy at all and all I do is lie on the couch or bed. And then other days where I feel not too bad at all and I get some housework done.

Can't drive anywhere now (can't fit behind the steering wheel), so I'm housebound till this bub decides it's time to play.

I'm researching aromatherapy and meditational music to have in the birth centre room during labour as well. Anything to pass the time!

I'm sorry to hear that.
I hope your MIL will not be too devastated and will be able to take joy in the birth of your child.

Morning ladies!

39 and 2 today. Woke feeling yucky, pucky and my stomach just feels ill? Hopfully its to do with labor coming on....and not a bug or something. Well my mom left yesterday back to FL I'm sad the baby didn't come not sure when she'll be able to get back up here again Trying to keep myself occupied. On the plus side my sister is here after spending 3m abroad in India., She'll live with us till June 1st. She'll be like my live in nanny. I'm feeling very thankful for her.

Katie: I hope you are able to figure something out with your husband. I used Skype with my sister when she was in India, its really quite easy.

Smithie: sorry about mil dog how sad

Morning ladies! :

I want these contractions to go away or do something! So sick of having them and then just nothing. And they hurt, too. Don't feel like BH to me.

Had another bad dream last night. This time resulting in an emergency c-section. Part of that is my fault b/c I'd asked on the psychic thread weeks ago about my birth and she saw me having a c/s so I've had that thought hanging over my head since then. I should have known better than to ask. ANYWAY, I had talked to my midwife about my dreams and she just kind of blew them off as completely normal. *shrug*

Have a chiropractor appointment this morning and trying to decide if I should go shopping at the mall afterwards or not. I did last week and found some great stuff at baby gap for the baby. Shirts for like $2 for Fall/Winter. Can't beat that! I bought a friends baby an outfit yesterday for her baby shower for $16 that retailed for $74.50! CRAZY! I love deals like that! Just not sure that I want to deal with shopping today or not.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I've heard that I can get a calling card that is somewhere between 25-35 cents per minute but I'm not sure if I need a land line for it, we only use cell phones currently. The problem we're going to face in about a month or so is him going to a highly under-developed area that will be without phone and internet for an indefinite period of time, and at that point I don't even know if he could get phone service with a GSM phone. He would most likely need a satellite phone. We can do internet phone via Skype but I am pretty computer illiterate and need to figure this whole webcam thing out and he needs to get a webcam as well. It seems to be so dependent on where he's located and what he has access to. I know some people are able to do magic jack while deployed but they have regular internet access in their rooms.
I don't know about magic jack but we used skype. Both Skype and MWR can make calls to cell phones, so that's not a problem. Your DH should also be able to call his base, and have them patch him through to you for free. As long as he is at the MWR or calling from a military VOIP phone. Even though he's in an under-developed area, they should have that at least. I have to run to work, but I will try to find the number for your DH to make the calls to you for free.

Ok Katie I'm PM-ing you

I'm having some cramping feelings this morning, and also feeling like I have a stitch in my side (like when you go running sometimes), anyone else felt this? I've now also resigned myself that I may go all the way until my ultrasound due date (May 21st) and perhaps even later. Mostly because I looked at a calendar this morning and the 21st is only 8 days away! That date is 42 +1 if I were going by LMP, so one good thing is not having to worry about being induced.

I started looking at Magic Jack last night and I can make calls to him for $0.32 a minute and he can receive calls for free on the cell phone. For him to call me on the cell its $0.25 a minute so not horrible. Right now he has to call the DSN line through Fort Drum in NY to call me, and then his parents have their own DSN's that they can patch us through if necessary. Andrew just emailed me and said Magic Jack would be best, they only have some foreign, obscure phone service there and not Verizon but doing Magic Jack will probably be cheapest for me when calling him.

I'm 39 weeks today. I will probably make a trip to see my midwife tomorrow or Friday to give the baby a listen.

Crossing my fingers for you, Asher!

Sounds like j_p_i had some useful info, and that you found out some on your own too. Otherwise, I was going to say, if he can get access to a comp, Skype is fairly easy. You don't HAVE to use a webcam, I think, you can just use it for voice comm.

That's what I was thinking! Course, here it is, the 13th, and 9:30 in teh morning, and no twinges yet, so I dunno. Baby seems to enjoy hanging out in there!

Asher, those are some great deals! And I'm totally with you, I am having so many contractions and I wish they would just do something already (well, something more than they are)!

Had contractions 8-10 minutes apart again last night for a few hours, and had them all night long (though I don't know how often, I just know I didn't sleep well because of them). Haven't noticed them too strongly this morning. Lost a bit of my plug yesterday morning and a bit more this morning. I really wish this would be it (labor). I am scheduled for induction Friday morning, and I was really wanting to avoid that, so if this baby decides to come today or tomorrow I would be so, so thrilled!

The thirteenth does sound like a fun birthday to have!

Good morning everyone!
Katie, I really hope you get this sorted out for a reasonnable rate... and a quick labour!

I am hoping for a better day today, beacuse yesterday afternoon and evening I just felt miserable. Not ctx pain, just my belly hurting. I could not stand a shirt on it. It was so sore. Dunno how to describe it.

Still thinking aginst the sweep this pm though. But I have made my fajitas extra spicy last night.

I've had a feeling about the 13th this whole pregnancy, and thought it would be a fun birthday too! But, not much going on for me either! It is just after 10a.m. here, so I suppose there's time left For some reason I figure I will know first thing in the morning if today is the day. I'm not sure why I think that, just assumed I guess!

We ordered chinese food delivery last night and this was the conversation I had with the order taker.

ME: I will have the Szechuan chicken...And can you make it extra extra EXTRA spicy?"

HER: You want it very spicy?

ME: Extremely spicy. I want it to hurt.

HER: It is spicy already, you want it even more spicy, right?

ME: I want my eyes to water and my mouth to burn.

It was fabulous...But no labor..lol

spicy food is one thing I haven't been able to do! I'm a big wuss. I max out with medium salsa.

I think for me it's that with my first everything seemed to happen over night. My water broke just after midnight Wednesday morning, and real contractions started just after midnight Friday morning. So I feel like if morning comes and nothing has happened.... But I know I could start having contractions at any moment, right?

Ouch. I wouldn't have been able to eat it! : But maybe we'll do Chinese tonight. Just regular spicy though.... I have a chiro appt. at 5:45, and DH is planning to be home early this afternoon, so we could all go together, and then go out for Chinese. Or Indian. Hmmmmm.... Decisions decisions. I can't remember where I read this, but someone was complaining somewhere about not wanting to cook cuz she had expected not to be home or to be in babymoon land by now, and I'm so there. There's tons of food in the house, but I don't want to cook it cuz it's stuff I bought to have on-hand for after the baby comes so I won't have to go shopping so much, and I haven't made a meal plan at all, so dinner comes, and I'm clueless [I usually plan at least a week in advance]. *sigh*

I wonder if it would work better on you though since your body is not used to it.

Kinda like that here. It is mainly because we had so much stuff going on the week-end that we have not gone grocery shopping as usual... So I am winging it too.

I'm very particular about spicy food, I don't mind sweet and spicy but I hate Tabasco flavoring. I've loved hot wings this whole pregnancy though, and I really like hot and sour soup if its made right.

My cousin-IL is getting induced right now. She was due on Sunday. I don't know the particulars but her parents are visiting from out of state so that may have something to do with it. I got an update this morning that she was 1cm so they're starting pit. I've heard these stories go downhill so many times so I'm crossing my fingers that all goes smoothly. My new nephew is set to arrive on Monday, my brother is going to take pictures and send them to me. This will bring the running total to 5 boys and 3 girls so everyone is expecting me to have a girl this time around, too bad I'm pretty sure this baby is going to prove them wrong
