Is it 3 months that I can do feet out, or am I looking for some sign that she's ready? My 2mo baby doesn't seem to like her legs confined. She kicks and wiggles when I try to use my sling or mei tai.

I'm no expert, I just saw your post and wanted to respond because my baby didn't like to be carried with his legs bent up frog style either at that age. I use a wrap, and started wrapping him with his legs out at around 2 months. He seemed much more comfortable that way- no more squirming and fussing while being worn. It hasn't seemed to hurt anything so far.
But like I said, I'm no expert. Maybe some of the other ladies here that know more will have more info for you.

My baby is 3 months now, but he wanted his feet out at 2 or 3 weeks! Wouldn't put up with them tucked in at all, and we haven't froggied him since. And he loves the Moby wrap now, feet out, facing in most of the time, facing out occasionally. It seems like if you can arrange baby with lots of fabric supporting him so he's not just dangling from the crotch, that it's probably OK? I'm not worrying, anyway. I figure if he wants to stretch his legs, he wants to stretch his legs.

(nak) from what i understand at least for mt's (i don't wrap) when they can have their legs out depends on how long their legs are/how wide the mt is.....the mt should not be ending below their knees...so should end where their knees bend-am i making any sense? it is easier to show someone rather than describe it i think.
i'v been able to have legs out for a while in my dd and she's not very tall, but i have an adjustable bottom mt. i have also heard of folks putting one leg out and froggying the other. never tried this myself.

I'll try the one leg thing. I've seen videos with the MT bottom cinched in with a band and might try that too. Mine is pretty wide and a heavy canvas material.
I'm going to a babywearer meeting Thursday! Maybe I can try another carrier. She likes to be carried in my arms in a chair hold if that makes sense. I like the Pikkolo a lot since it can be used FF.

I was coming here with the same Q. I just made my first MT today and the first time I put augie in it (just turned 3 mo) he loved it, but he was only in there for like 5 min. Since then I've tried it 3 times, and each time he's cried and squirmed like he was uncomfortable. I'm hoping that it's mostly bc he's tired... But anyhow, this last time I put him in, I opened his legs up, facing my belly, so that his knees are pointing towards my hips and feet straight down from there. His legs are still inside the MT, though. He fell asleep pretty quick in that position, so I'm hoping it's comfortable for him and he'll like being carried this way. It's really comfortable for me!

DS2 insisted on having feet AND arms out of any carrier well before 2mo. Luckily he had good trunk and head control and was a tall baby with long legs!
With DS1 I had his feet out of the RS from the time I started using it at about 1 week. He refused to do cradle carry and my sister was the only one I knew who had used a sling, so when she showed me how to put him in the sling upright she put his feet out and I went with it.
Neither of my kids has any hip or leg problems.

LO is 3 weeks now we've done the legs out since 2 weeks, she doesn't care for the scrunched up legs all the time and she hates the cradle hold. Didn't know there were issues with feet out this early???
