I am suffering from pneumonia and my MIL has been over the past 3 days helping me take care of Isabella so I can rest. Well apparently she's been using diaper rash cream on with her cloth diapers!!!! It's the California Baby stuff.... oh god oh god are all of my diapers ruined????????????

Nah, but they might need to be stripped. No big. Just wash them with super-hot water, maybe with Dawn and rinse till no more suds.

I thought CA baby butt stuff was fine with CD's? We use it every once in a while and so far haven't had an issue.

I thought because of the zinc it was a no-no... maybe I'm freaking out over nothing?

Pour a bit of water on the diapers. If the water beads up before it absorbs, or doesn't absorb at all, then there's a rash-cream coating, and you need to get it off. The best way I know to do that is to put Dawn on there with a little water, and rub it in by hand, and then rinse. I actually used a little scrub brush and Dawn to get Destitin off my Fuzzi Bunz. The Dawn cuts the oils that coat and waterproof the diapers.

If the water you pour on the dipes soaks in quickly, then there's no problem, and you don't need to worry about it.

I wouldn't put Dawn in the washer-- I think you'd get too much suds. But who am I to say? Maybe you can. I've never tried.

I have used Dawn on occasion in my washer, but I have a TL. It's a pain, but rubbing the dawn in, like with a toothbrush will probably help.

And make sure you use hot rinses.

Now, if you're not having any stink or repelling issues, it might not be a big deal. I wouldn't bother doing anything until you know you have aproblem.

California Baby is fine for CDs. Many mamas on DS use it, as did I before I switched to Northern Essence.

I thought the only "problem" diaper creams were ones with fish oils. I use the Weleda one all the time which has zinc oxide and have never had to do anything special to get it out of my dipes.
