I work part time at Walgreens, and have for almost 6 months now. I am a staunch supporter of reusable bags. I bring them everywhere, and should I forget one, I either carry my purchases or get a paper bag that I recycle. I always put the items I purchase at work in a reusable bag and have never had a problem.
Last night, I bought a diet sprite and a bag of chips. My boss announces I MUST put it in a clear garbage bag as is "company policy." I tell him I don't believe in using plastic bags, and he rolls his eyes and talks to me like I'm stupid
So, what I should have done, if I'd thought of it, was say "Fine, refund me and I'll go somewhere after work." I sooo wish I'd thought of saying it right then. Anyhow, on the way out of the store, I took my items out of the obscenely big bag, put them in my wonderful green bag, and put the garbage bag back under the counter. My boss never noticed
If it ever happens again though, I'm prepared with my "refund me" comeback!
I know it's silly and of little importance, but I know that even winning the smallest battles can boost morale. Company policy, ha. I can promise you that $$ is more important to them than their silly policies they don't even enforce 90% of the time.
