Compliment

Thread Starter
I went to IHOP with my mom the other day, and the little old lady in the booth next to us gave me the best compliment. She came over as they were leaving and said "Your children are so well mannered! I haven't seen children that well behaved in a long time, you must be a wonderful mother. You didn't have to raise your voice once" I just said "thank you" and thought to myself 'they wouldn't be so well mannered if they were yelled at all the time'! This isn't the first time someone has said something to me..

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had someone comment to them, anyone have a story to share?

I get the most compliments about my son's behavior in church. He doesn't sit absolutely still or keep absolutely silent, but he talks to me in a whisper and moves around quietly and stays within our pew. I tell people, "I've just brought him to church regularly since he was two weeks old and expected him to behave, and usually he does."

We get huge compliments when we take DS out for a meal. He's a little over 2 y/o and can sit and have a meal without any throwing, screaming, yelling and so on. I'm not sure how I feel about labeling him "well behaved" but he really is. I think a big part is that DW and I are very dedicated to making eating an enjoyable and neutral family experience.

It wasn't a compliment about DD's behavior but the last compliment I got went something like this.

We went to the post office and I was using the automated postage thing for big boxes. DD had found a pen with tape on the back in the shape of a triangle and said, "look mommy, it is a spaceship pen." She spent the rest of the time at the post office giving her stuffed animal a ride on the spaceship.

A woman said that I must be a great mother because DD was so creative.
