What do you give a one year old instead of cheerios when you are out of the house. I've been giving him pieces of raw cheese and banana but that's about it. I'm looking for something that won't make a mess in the car!

My son loves the plantain chips from Trader Joes. Just plantains, salt and sunflower oil.

I've read on the weston price site that you can make the yogurt dough from the NT cookbook and make them into little cheerio shapes and bake. I haven't tried yet but could be good. I think the recipe recommended to add honey to the mix. There are also other recommendations on the site. I think I searched for toddler snacks on the weston price site.

Just today I gave mine ripped up pieces of Ezekial corn tortilla. He loved it. It wasn't too messy, unlike when I give him an apple and he spits all the teeny tiny pieces of skin back out.

this is a good thread. I wonder the same things. my last two had gluten/wheat and dairy allergies. so I don't even want to bring those things into this one's dietbfor a while. of course he's 10 days old, so I have some time to think about it

I make crackers from a recipe in NT. I soak the flour in buttermilk the night before and they turn out SO good! I also cut the crackers out with cookie cutters and the kids love to help and love to eat them!
