Eczema has cleared up! What has worked for you?

I wanted to share what strategies have worked for clearing up my 14 month old girl's eczema....finally! The itchy, scaly, rough eczema covered her entire trunk (back and chest), upper arms, and top of her thighs. I've done a # of things, but I'll share what I am doing now. I'm not sure if it is one strategy or some of these that did it, but it went away, so I'm going to keep doing them all.

*Apple Cider Vinegar (raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized)....I take 1 ts. 3 times a day in some water. I also spray a 1/2 water, 1/2 ACV solution onto the affected areas in the morning and evening.

*Espom salt bath every night (baby) - 1/2 cup

*No gluten, dairy, eggs - but I'm am introducing back raw dairy, raw eggs and sprouted, sourdoughed bread to see if it comes back.

*No shade veggies (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplant)

*No citrus fruits

*Probiotics, CLO

*Upping her intake of iron-fortified foods - her blood work came back with her being anemic, so I've been making sure she eats beans, meat, spinach, black strap molasses, etc.. I'm not sure if this is related, but it is something I'm doing out of the ordinary, so I thought I'd add it.

*Sunlight without sunscreen every day

*Charlie's soap in laundry

I hope this helps some of you. Warning...the ACV spray on the eczema burns for about 10 seconds, but it really helps with diminshing the itch and will eventually (hopefully for you too) help the eczema vanish. My little one used to cry when we sprayed it on, but now she doesn't because she doesn't have any more of the weepy, open sores. It took about 2 weeks.

Oh...I nurse her...that is why I take the ACV internally. Now...I just need to figure out how to get rid of her reoccurent diaper rash. I've had some success with pau d'arco, so I may try that again.

Thank you! I have been struggling with getting the corners of DS's mouth free --- forgot about ACV. We do the rest, too.

I'm not sure what cleared up my dd's eczema. She had it as a newborn and it was worst between 4 to 7 months of age (really red, crusty, etc. and it was the worst on her cheeks--I was so stressed during that time and always made sure she didn't scratch her cheeks), but then it started clearing up after that and was all gone except for a small spot on her thigh by 9 months. And then at around 12 months, a small spot on her lower cheek near the jawline appeared and that would come and go. I haven't seen that spot appear in a long time, but every once in a while she'll get a couple of faint, very mild dots on her cheeks, which I think are the remainders of eczema, but they usually go away that same day or by the next day.

I had eliminated gluten, dairy, chicken, and eggs (I already avoid soy) from my diet for 2 months starting when she was 5 months old. I also put the dogs outside and didn't let them come in the house anymore. I also sold our upholstered couch and got rid of dust mites as best as I could. I don' think my dietary changes did anything because her eczema only got worse during the 2 months I eliminated foods, and I figured that I missed raw milk too much, so I reintroduced that and her eczema started clearing up at that point. That small patch on her thigh went away a few months ago too. I wish I could say I pinpointed the cause of her eczema and why it cleared up, but I don't know. Anyone have any ideas? I don't have any of the symptoms of leaky gut syndrome, as far as I know. The both of us have been eating everything, including the addition of eggs recently and no reactions on her. I'm eliminating gluten for myself again though because I think it makes my stomach fat.

If it's just the corners of his mouth, it might be angular stomatitis. You can google for more, but riboflavin (vit B2) deficiency is one thing that can cause it. If he's still nursing, then supping yourself can increase the levels in your milk.

WhoMe--Wow, fascinating. Thanks. I noticed that after I take a multivitamin, my urine is neon yellow, which I read is a sign that I'm not absorbing the B vitamins (I think?) Anyway, more to read up on!

Have you tried calendula succus tincture? Dilute in water, at about 1:10, and use for wipe solution or spray on. We also have good luck with coconut oil.

It's actually a sign that you *are* absorbing them - if they're in your pee, they must have gotten from your gut into your bloodstream. What the neon is actually good for is a marker of how acidic your pee is (or isn't). If you're seeing neon, you're on the more alkaline (basic) end of the spectrum.

And that neon comes from B2 specifically, btw

Thanks....I haven't tried this yet. The only thing that has provided any relief (not cure) for her diaper rash is weleda calendula oil and black currant seed oil. Neither of these have made it go away. Our pediatrician does not have any other suggestions....we tried everything, so it just seems to be something that I have to figure out. She had a stool test which came back positive for parasites, so we tried pau d'arco, which helped more than anything, but the diaper rash is still here. It's now been 4 months. I'm just so happy that her eczema is gone and that she now only itches her bum, instead of her whole body. I'm going to try pau d'arco again in conjunction with olive leaf tincture and homeopathic sulphur. I feel like a detective trying to figure out all this stuff, but I just haven't had much help from doctors....alternative and conventional.
