Rant: weak immune system and vax

My dd had a reaction to prevnar . . . I'm still totally po'd about it. So I was looking it up and the insert says to tell your doctor if you have a history of immune problems . . . well, we didn't get an insert of course. But my dd has serious reflux and mspi and food intolerances, which my doctor who is treating her knows, so he should know that it could compromise her immune system . . . so why was he still pushing vax?

Sigh.

All I can say is, welcome to the world of non-evidence based medical care.

Plus, vaccines are only "tested" on healthy children. Not anyone with any health problems (and how many health problems do they uncover in the first 24 hours of life anyway?)

Most docs don't even read the package inserts and have no idea what the ingredients are of the vaccines they are injecting into kids. Next time yu are there quiz your ped about what is in a certain vax. You should study up before hand so you know and I bet anything that they will not be able to tell you without looking it up.

Dr's wont just voluntarily give you the package inserts. you need to ask for them.

But we had discussed at the 2 month visit - where she got NO shots - that I felt that her body couldn't handle them, which he scoffed at. At the 4 month visit, when she got the prevnar shot and only this shot, he totally again bullied me into it. Actually, he bullied my dh into it with all his disease fearmongering and bad parent scolding. Then he said that eventually if we wouldn't vaccinate (and he didn't say how long) we would have to find a new ped - so guess what, I did. Too bad I didn't do it before the prevnar shot and follow my gut. He didn't even mention that this shot isn't required, or that it is less than 10 years old - things he knew from our discussion I was very interested in. Stupid, dishonest doctor. And stupid dh who said yes he would stand by me before going to the appointment and then caved. But mostly, stupid me - because my heart knew and I had started researching, but not enough yet, and I should have been firm.

Don't feel so bad, Karen, Many of us allowed our kids to be vaccinated even though we weren't totally on board, or even were completely against them. It's HARD to resist the pressure and fear mongering.

What reaction(s) did your DD have? Is she still having noticable ongoing issues? (I hope not...)

Your doctor was pushing the vaccine because he has to follow party line. He is also under a lot of pressure plus he gets plenty of incentives. No matter what the consequences of the vaccine are, he is covered if he vaccinates. On the other hand, should he decide to tell you vaccines are not good for your child, and your child should have a simple childhood disease, you could sue him for 'false information'.

That is the way it is now in our health care system. Big pharma has it all under control. They produce a product that they do all sort of magic to sell it and make their stock go up. The child does not matter, that is none of their concern. The bottom line is profit and they have lots of lobbyist on the hill to pretty much run the (world) government.

You have learned a very hard lesson but it may be that it will guide your health decisions throughout your life. Never again let a doctor bully you. Never do instantly what any of them tell you to do. Always research first and then make up your own mind. Same thing your parents (probably) told you about signing any document.

We all have to grow a back bone sooner or later. It takes a mistake like that to get started. But it will serve you well. I know, because I was in your situation many years ago.

Don't beat yourself up now. You can't change it. When we know better we make better decisions. I am sure next time you'll stand up tall and tell any doctor that this is your child and you will have the final say.

I no longer believe in western medicine because of their money policies. We are our own doctors and that works much better.

My daugther cried and got a fever, then she stopped using what at the time we thought was just her left hand but she started creeping this week and I see she is dragging her left leg. She also stopped babbling. With a lot of work and I believe nutritional supplements, she is now using her left hand more (I was so happy to finally see her splash in the tub with both hands, not just her right) and she does seem to be beginning to babble again some - though no definite consonant sounds, just generalized noises. Given the timing, it is undeniable that it was caused by the prevnar vaccine.

Now not only am I researching vaccines (which I have decided she is not having anymore of no matter what), but I am trying to find ways to heal her from her vaccine injury. It's a lot of work and sadness.

The only other vaccine she has had is the Hepb vaccine at birth, which I am sad to say I guess I didn't really realize she got. But you know, I had been drugged and in the hospital for over 24 hours in labor by that time.

2009 has been an enlightening year for me . . . and I hope it does not come at great cost to my baby.

She also has a lot of food allergy/intolerance issues and gut issues that my 6 year old daughter did not have.

Karen, I'm very sorry to hear of the prolonged issues. I wish I had some suggestions but I don't know much about healing vaccine injuries.

I did want to suggest perhaps filing with VAERS, if for no other reason than to record this reaction and help parents who are questioning vaccinations see your daughter's data among the statistics.
