can't sew a straight line....

okay so this happens often, I sew a long line like on curtains and along my seam there is some puckering....is it the stitch I am choosing? please school me,,,,thanks : )

looking at it again, it's not that bad but, I think I have something to learn here.....could it be I tug at the fabric (i do) and that is causing it?

You should be letting the feed dogs do the work for you, all you need to do is guide it in the front. if you tug on the fabric from the back you could be stretching it, and when it un-stretches, you get puckers. if you are doing lots of tugging to get it to go straight, maybe you need to get your machine serviced. my rocketeer doesn't feed in a straight line right now, and it is sitting waiting to get serviced. put a piece of fabric in there, don't touch it or guide it, and run a normal straight stitch to see if it is straight or curved...

i'm glad I posted, was a good reminder on not tugging the fabric, I did what you said, the line wasnt perfectly straight but when I dont tug just guide lightly it works great, finished my project first since christmas)
