Never Ending Contractions...

I've been having contractions for almost four weeks now... sometimes they're so painful they make me gasp... sometimes my belly just gets tight...

I'm SICK of it. It'd almost be easier if NOTHING was happening because at least then I wouldn't be constantly feeling 'geared up' for labor to start! I tired a couple of natural inductions but all they did was make me more crampy... DP has been checking my cervix and it's been soft for a couple weeks... lately very soft... but he can't figure out if I'm dilated or not... so I made an appointment with the OB for tomorrow. I was trying to not go again this pregnancy. We're planning a homebirth but have been doing my prenatal care with the local OB for financial reasons.

I'm dreading having an internal exam, but at least maybe then I'll know a little more. I just wish these stupid contractions would accomplish something already!!!

I'm with you on this one. I have contractions daily. Some are just tight, some are painful, some are more pressure. It seems that they are just gearing me up for the real thing... but that's been going on for weeks now! I guess I just chalk it up to having a well-prepared uterus!

I know it's frustrating. I have a mw appointment tomorrow that I didn't think I'd make it to because I thought the baby would be here already. I've resigned myself to being relaxed from this point on until she decides to make her appearance. One of these days these contractions will produce labor!

My uterus did an insane amount of prep work with my first baby. And then I wound up with a 5-hour labor. Just sayin'...

^that's heartening to hear.

Anyway, my uterus has also been doing the contraction dance for WEEKS now. I was sooo sure she'd be a week or two early. But alas, I am now 4 days past my due date. This morning I woke up at 4am this morning and was having regular contractions, and then, they just pfffted out. bleh.
I only have four days left until my scheduled c-section.

I hate it. I think it's the universes cruel joke. Trying to prepare us/our bodies, my bum!

Why are you having a c-section? If you don't mind me asking.

BabyMae09, how are you feeling now?

I feel great! It's just these darn contractions... otherwise things are fine! It's sunny and warm here, so I've been enjoying the sun for the past few days

Also, found out yesterday that I'm dilated to 1.5 cm and that my cervix is very soft and long, but no effacement yet. So at least these contractions are moving things along!

BabyMae I feel you. Hang in there. I'm 2 days past my due date, 2 cm dilated and 90% effaced and still my contractions are totally irregular and producing no real labor. *sigh* But at least they are doing something. Our bodies are wise - that is what I keep telling myself. Let things roll how they want to roll.

Don't mind at all.
I had a scheduled section with my son due to his not quite frank/not quite transverse breech situation last time. Sooo, THIS time, I was going for a VBAC. I've already put off one scheduled C that I was originally going to have last week (my due date, the 12th), but since I have to move to Wisconsin from Florida June 1st, I can't put it off any longer. This baby HAS to be born. My OB is like, "Are you sure??? We can wait..." but I just can't wait another week, only to have a c-section and only have one week to recover, and pack, and move across the country. Sucks all around. Boo. So, yet again, I'll be in the Birth Trauma boards dealing with my emotions about this.

*hugs*

Here's hoping you go into labor on your own soon...

gah! it's so upsetting. I can't tell when a contraction starts and when it ends. My belly feels tight all the time..... And no real labor yet. *sigh*

Mine have picked up a bit... still nothing 'real' but am going to the DR in a few minutes to check dialation again. Catters - good luck with that! I hope everything goes okay and it's not too upsetting this time
