Really? We just hated ours. My FIL gave us the tank and brought the cichlids over with it. They where supposed to be red, with a big bulging head and colorful, but they just looked like perch in our tank, and they where always freaked out and scared. We had 2 little one and a big one (about a foot long) and he would try to eat the smaller ones. Pluss they ate a TON of food!

The goldfish are so cute, they come up to the front when we are in there, and they will follow our fingers, and they seem to get excited whenevr they see us...its really cute!

Well, there are hundreds(actually, probably thousands) of different kinds of cichlids, yours sound like blood parrots which are a mutant hybrid, and yeah I dont like them. But, in genereal cichlids are very personable and beautiful. African cichilds are brightly colored and can almost look like saltwater fish. Oscars are more plain looking, but smart and can even learn some (really really) basic tricks
