Ergo Zipper Pouch

Thread Starter
So like many other people I'm trying to decide between an Ergo or a Beco. I think I'm leaning towards the Beco but I've noticed the Ergo has a built in zipper pouch which seems like it could be really useful. I hate having to carry and extra bag with me and it seems like that little pocket could help with this.

Does anyone actually use that pocket and find it useful? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

i use the zipper pocket for my wallet, glasses, keys and cellphone. it use to fit 1 small diaper, but dd is in med diaps now, and they don't fit in there. i find it very usefull. you can get the backpack, but dd likes to be worn on the front, and i think the backpack might get too bulky... some one else might have experience with the backpack.

I use the zipper pouch for my wallet, a dribble cloth and my keys. I think it is handy to have.

I have used it for keys and a small wallet. Nice for when I am going on walks- to stash my keys there.

I find the pocket much too small to be useful. I can barely get my hand into it while wearing ds.

do you mean the zipper pocket that's on the carrier, or the front pouch accessory?

the former, the zippered pocket on the carrier itself, isn't very big. it will be useful for small things in front carries but you can't get to it yourself in back carries.

the latter, the zippered pouch accessory, is awesome. it's just the right size for wallet, cellphone, and keys and fastens onto any ssc or mt, front or back carry.

i wouldn't let that be the deciding factor between ergo and beco, though. age of baby, your comfort learning to do back carries, and your size/build are more important factors IME.

I use the little zipper pouch for lots of stuff - wallet, keys, a beer coozy (when I drink a beer while taking a walk with DS), pretty rocks, etc.. I just got the backpack attachment for the ergo, and we used it all weekend. It is really great. DS and I are going on an international trip, and the backpack will allow me to schlep a bunch of stuff around (maps, water, etc...), without having to drag a stroller everywhere.

I had an Ergo briefly and I liked the front pocket because you can throw some wipes in there with a small wallet. voila. what else can one need for short errands? Sometimes, I'd throw in a AIO (CD) if I knew ds might soil within the time we're out and about.
But, fwiw, this was when we lived in NYC. So unless he's in a front carry, I'd throw my wallet in there. If he was on my back, I'd carry a small messenger bag under the carrier.
