Need advice about getting/having a family dr or ped

I live in rural Ohio, and there are no Dr's here that will my son as a patient if he is unvaxed.

I admit, I have been slacking on getting the facts. DS had his newborn HepB and then his 3 month shots, and half of his 6 month shots and then I quit. I pretty much quit everything because his ped seemed to make things hard on me.

I came up with a vax schedule. At that time I was planning on doing 1-2 vax a month instead of loading him down with 4 shots at the same time every 3 months. The nurses were always on my case, the Dr wouldn't leave it alone, so I just quit taking him altogether.

When he would get sick, I would take him to urgent care, but recently our insurance changed and I just got a 300.00 bill for treating him for sinusitis. Wowza!

So I guess I am going to have to find him a Dr. I need someone I can call and have him seen, but I don't want someone breathing down my neck about vaccines. I am still undecided about what I want, but I did take the first step by purchasing Bob Sears Vaccine book tonight on Amazon. I am hoping it will help me with my decisions.

He is 20 months old.
Can someone offer me some support and advice?

I'm sorry that you have to deal with this!!

We have changed doctors and have found a supportive (so far) doctor (pedi) for our 1 yr old son. It is criminal that pedi harrass and fire parents for making informed choices.
The only advice I can offer you is leave no stone unturned! There is a doctor out there who will at the very least respect your right to do what you feel is best for your child even if they do not agree. Ask local chiropractors...ask in local health food stores or farmers markets. Often it is word of mouth. You may have to travel a bit, but IMO it's worth it. Are there any naturopathic doctors in your area??

Have you heard of CHOICE? Its a group of midwives in Columbus. I've been meaning to call them back again and ask if they might keep a list of doctors for their patients that other patients recommend. Worth a shot. They have a website with phone#. I've been recommended a Dr. Backes on here twice, but when I made an appt. to where he worked they called me the day of the appt to tell me he no longer worked there. I'm pretty sure he has a private practice, but I haven't tried to slueth it out yet. Not sure if our insurance would cover him or not. Plus I remember there being a Jr. and a Sr. and I'm not sure which one was the right guy! My only other idea is to get in contact with some Amish people in Plain City and ask them if they can recommend a doctor. Not sure if that would be rude or not though! If you do find someone, please consider sharing because I'm in Ohio and looking myself, near the Columbus area.

Ohio has a large Amish community. If you are anywhere near them, find out the doctor they use because most of them don't vaccinate at all.

Also, don't ever let anyone talk you into injecting your c hild with anything.

As far as the sinus problem and other problems like that, you are better off learning to treat some things yourself. You save a lot of money and headache by being your own doctor.

We have practiced being our own doctor for the last 12 years and have never needed anyone else.
