First Class mailing question

Thread Starter
When mailing through the USPS with First Class, (for smaller/lesser-priced products), I was wondering if most of you just do straight first class or do you add anything extra (ex: delivery confirmation, insurance if value is >$50, certified). There are so many options/add-ons that I get really confused.

With my larger quilts, I'll definitely use insurance, but, since they're lap-sized, I'm guessing I could fit it in a Priority mail box?

Guess I'm looking to best wisely navigate all the shipping options.

I pay shipping through Paypal. They automatically add confirmation to 1st Class shipments. I think it's 19 cents. Just FYI, if you ever have to do click n ship thru USPS, they don't offer 1st Class as an option....only Priority. I've never had (knock on wood) a problem w/ using 1st Class, but have had TONS of problems using Parcel Post. Several orders never got to their destination last year, so now I boycott Parcel Post.

I always get delivery confirmation. They may add insurance if they like, but it's up to them to request it.

I ship virtually everything Priority Mail through Click and Ship (costs less than PM at the post office and I get free delivery confirmation). I've thought about going with first class for some things but by the time I buy the packaging, pay for postage and DC, it's just as much.
