Graphic/web designer who can work within Volusion - Page 3

Once I get up and running, I'm looking forward to checking out Digishop/Corecommerce Facebook integration:

You can post your products directly on your Facebook account with Social Commerce, CoreCommerce facebook application.

This helps open new avenues for sales through Facebook.

You can also view the Facebook training video.

That is a pretty cool feature. I'll admit that I despise Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc. but I've been feeding my blog posts to Twitter and then they get pushed to Facebook. Theoretically it's helping my search engine numbers. I just don't get the whole Facebook, etc. thing personally but I'll do what I need to for my website

I think that Facebook has been a great way to communicate w/customers. I think it gives a super personal feel. Can't wait to see how this integration works.

Twitter on the other hand....not so much into microblogging. I don't use that as much as I could.

Will do! Please let us know how it goes...we are planning to purchase either Digishop or CoreCommerce shortly and I'd love to hear about any issues you run into (or things you find to love).

I'd go with Digishop personally and get a separate hosting service that won't charge any overage fees. I've been very happy with my hosting service at Littlefish.

Bumping this up...

Carrin, how's it going? Been thinking about you! I'm hoping to buy the software and get started loading my products shortly (had a baby 12 days ago so I had to put a hold on my plans).

Congratulations mama!

I'm still waiting (patiently) for my software to be installed. My design guy is waiting also, so we can get started with the conversion. Should be installed any day now (knocking on wood).

checking in to see how digishop is going! i plan to be purchasing my cart very soon, my girl is still finishing up the design end of things.

Still waiting for product uploads and integration to be completed. Had some hiccups with permissions settings and some things w/Digishop not working properly. Their installation instructions are pretty lacking, but their customer support makes up for that (ask me if I feel the same way in a few weeks).

We signed up for the free trial of Core Commerce today. Our new website is being designed and I'm going to start setting up the software (getting our products in, etc.). Fingers crossed...

Bumping this up so I don't have to stay up nights to make a decision!!! Why is it so hard to figure this out? This is what I want:

# quantity discounts even when products are a different size or color or not added to cart at the same time
# options saved when adding items to gift registry
# inventory tracked on all options (or at least more than the first option)
# parent/child options on products
# coupons that only work on some products or options
# reward points
# tax on some items but not others
# when picking multiple items in a pack (e.g., pick colors and sizes of 3 diapers), when they pick the color and size of the first diaper, will it then count that selection against the inventory available on the second option? (to prevent people from ordering 3 red diapers if there are only 2 in stock)
# and this is probably a pipe dream, but integration with Quickbooks for MAC
# customer reviews
# automatic zoom on pictures

Any ideas?

Anyone else get the digishop yet? We ran into some issues with product import, and I'm having to do a TON of editing by hand (issue was w/compatibility w/my current carts CSV format). We have found lots of little issues with "permissions settings" and images and such, that I've had to submit helpdesk tickets to resolve. I wouldn't recommend anyone do this switch unless they have a VERY competent IT person to help, or they know their cart system very well and know how to edit stuff.

Lots of hiccups.....site still isn't ready to switch over yet, but we're getting there. Feel free to pm me if you have any more questions....or ask here of course.

I will be buying the cart as soon as I can come up with the money! I won't be transferring anything. I will be entering products from scratch. I can not wait!

I can't imagine a shopping cart transition would ever be easy or simple!

I got a quote for $1100 bucks to modify the registry to recognize options...<sigh> I am hoping it will be released as a new feature sooner than I need to pay for the custom edit!! It isn't really something I can get away with not having.
Funny you should say that....I was just thinking, this isn't totally bad software. It would be super if you were starting from scratch! I suppose conversions aren't simple, are they?
I'm just manually entering all of our products into CoreCommerce. I didn't even try a CSV transfer. I just can't imagine transferring from very unsophisticated Zen Cart to Core Commerce would go well. I figured it was probably easier to cut and paste.

I'm really excited about my new site but this whole thing is a ton of work!

I feel the same way.....Even when I'm asleep at night, I'm still going over and over everything in my head. I don't want to forget to transfer anything over (metatags, subpages, etc...).

We are going to try to switch the site over next Monday. We're doing a backup of my old site, so we can switch back if there are too many issues. Keep your fingers crossed for me ladies (and pray for my sanity).

Ugh. I totally hear you! I'm actually going to make a list today and keep it right by my computer and move it to my bedroom at night. If I think of something (no matter how random), it goes on the list.

Keeping the back up is a fantastic idea! I hadn't thought of that (although hopefully DH/IT person did). We are planning on switching the night of 8/28.

Make sure you test everything before you go live. My gift registry is broken, shipping setup is broken (found out USPS only allows you to print labels, and not postage), lotsa' problems.

Hoping your installation goes more smoothly.
