Lactose monohydrate

Thread Starter
My 2 y/o is highly milk allergic but I just left the pharmacy with a script for chewable zyrtec that contains lactose monohydrate. This is obviously lactose in some form. I just called the allerists office and they are closed for lunch but does anyone know about this? Any chance its broken down into something that she may be ok with?
TIA

This medical grade lactose, you'll find it in most pills as a binder I think. I know it's in Olivia's prevacid. So far she's o.k. and Evan was o.k., Ilana reacted and had to have a liquid med. Supposedly it's so highly refined that it does not contain any milk protein. Why not use the zyrtec liquid?

I can't get her to take liquid.
I had a conversation with the doc who said its basically more a chemical at this point and that she has a lot of milk allergic kids who are fine with it.
I held off but then gave her one when she couldn't stop sneezing and she seems to be ok.

Thanks for responding
