Argh! Just got back from my Grandparents house. While I was there I was flicking through a magazine (fairly sure it was called "Thats life" or something like that and was 7th May issue) and I'm so annoyed.
To "celebrate" national breastfeeding awareness week they had written an atricle on breastfeeding...but not on how great it can be and all the benefits. No, it was all about the "terrible" bits of BF! They had sections from 4 mums, 1 of whom had been told she was disgusting for NIP, one who never wanted to breastfeed and had bottlefed all her children (who gave a lengthy list of the "benefits"), one who had such a hard time feeding that she gave up (think it was to do with sore nipples)...cant remember what the 4th one was but that was anti BF too!!! Yeah, happy breastfeeding everybody!
I wouldnt have been so annoyed if it had been balanced out by an equal number of positive interviews, but the whole article was just so anti BF!! The only thing it had was a little box in the corner of why its recommended to breastfeed, but it was such a tiny box and it felt like they had to put it there for legal reasons or something. It's just beyond me that they would put this article in to celebrate national breastfeeding week!
Did anyone else see this? It's in England.
And do you think I should write to the magazine?
xx
