Cat missing almost two weeks...need some vibes

Mods move if need be. I need support and ideas.

So our indoor only Siamese : named Beethoven got out two weeks ago tomorrow night. We have been looking and posted signs with no luck til today.

This morning I had a VM on my cell phone from 10pm last night. It was from a lady a street over. Beethoven was in the bushes at her house! : I called her right away this morning and got her VM. She called back and said he was gone but they had fed him some stuff last night. She said he was very hungry and thirsty.

So I got dressed and got the kids in the truck and went a street over. I couldn't find him. In the meantime I kept leaving Bruce VM because he was at a meeting here in town.

I took the kids back to the house to feed them and Bruce said meet him at the spot he was seen last night. Well we get over there and Bruce yells for me to come here (I couldn't see him because a truck was blocking my view). Beethoven was in the sewer! I saw him! He sat there and stared at us but wouldn't come up.

A man was working on an irrigation system and had a crowbar. He and Bruce got the sewar open but in the mean time Beethoven ran down the pipe that runs from the street we were on to the street we live on.

So we don't have him.....yet.

Two nights ago I had a dream. I dreamed Beethoven came home. The dream is fuzzy, but I remember Beethoven in it and I felt he was here.

So please any advice on getting him out of the sewer? Animal Control has been here. They won't trap him but said we could go rent a trap. We did put food in the sewer and out on top of it. I also put food and water out front.

Damn cat is giving me a heart attack.

We had over 3 inches of rain in a short period of time yesterday afternoon. When my husband got home he said the sewers were flooded.

Today we searched bushes next to peoples houses and then my husband climbed through almost all the sewer pipe thinking he could chase him out to me. I was at the end of the line with the sewer lid open. He wasn't there.

We did put an open can of tuna in the end hole this morning. No change. He hasn't beeen there.

I will keep you posted. I am afraid he is gone. Our main concern was that he drowned during the storn yesterday. But no sign of his remains.

fingers crossed mama!

cats are very smart and resourceful, even ones that haven't had a lot of exposure to the outside. i'm betting he's holed up somewhere and he'll be safe.

I wish you and your family success in bringing Beethoven home.

My 15 y.o. cat got out and was missing for 16 days...she came back on Mother's Day. She made it through a freak hot spell and subsequent near-freezing nights.

Cats are survivalists at heart.

We had a similar thing happen with our cat. He got out and ran off. I found him a month later in a storm drain. He was scared of me and ran off so I got my dd to see if she could lure him out but I think he's already turning feral. He was scared to death and wouldn't be lured out by a bowl of his food. He is doing fine though, he was as fat as ever and his coat was still healthy. I keep driving by that corner to see if I can catch a glimpse of him again but haven't seen him since.

Home depot had cat traps for $40 a few years ago. We seem to be cat magnets, and over the years have used it to TNR, and have loaned it out to many people for TNR. Might be worth the investment.

Crud. I'm so sorry. You must feel so helpless! Cats can be very intelligent when push comes to shove. Hopefully he was smart enough to get out once water started to come in.

Have you tried a trap yet? When we thought my mom's cat had escaped (he was "missing" in the house for 4 days!) we found a rescue that was going to let us borrow a trap. Also, the humane society rented traps in her town, I think. They suggested baiting it with both food and something that smelled like his humans, like a shirt that has been worn.

Good luck! I hope he comes home soon!
ETA: I just saw the pictures. He is so handsome!

Oh, what a beautiful cat. Siamese have such great personalities...I love cats that are talkative and highly social...my brother and sister pair are just like that! But, their persians (which generally have the reputation for the laid back and quiet personality...but not these bloodlines).

I hope that you can find him, that must have been so frustrating, seeing him and not being able to do anything.

Definitely try to find a trap. If one of our cats got out I'd be absolutely in shock and deep in worry. Of course, in the back of my mind I think I'd wonder and hope if they didn't come back that some person had found them and kept them. Their personalities are so social and affectionate...even to strangers who come into our house!
