WE started using gripe water for DD2 who is almost 3 weeks old. I've only given her 1/4 of the dose recommended for her age and that is enough to help her relax and fall asleep. It says you can do the full dose up to 6 times a day. Since I'm doing less do you think I could do it more often if needed?

yes. I gave DD2 half the dose, and did it ~2hrs apart instead of 4hrs. Though technically you don't have to wait that long b/w doses, just don't exceed the total amount over a 24hr period.
'Course, that was all before I figured out that she was having a reaction to the gripe water. At first I thought it was baby acne, but it got really bad. Then within a few days of stopping with the gripe water, her face is almost perfectly clear again. (I'm assuming it was probably the ginger, as ginger is a migraine trigger for me.)

I don't know about in the US, but I think there are still some formulations available with alcohol here in Canada. I would be careful about giving too much of those

She has had no reactions to it, just a very tiny amount calms her down almost immediatly. We've only used it 3 times a day so far but was just wondering incase for future reference.

Ours is alcohol free. It is by baby's bliss and was at Walgreens. contains no parabans, alcohol, fillers, binders, artificial flavors, artificial colors, wheat, yest, gluten, dairy or starch. And has organic fennel and ginger.

When he gets the hiccups and when his tummy seems especially upset. Like, if I can tell he hurts (his scream is different) I'll give him a bit of it and it usually helps. I have put it in the bottle before to try to head off any potential problems. (Like, if I knew I'd eaten something that was upsetting him but had to give him what I pumped)
