Grandma got DTap, keep baby away?

My mom got the DTaP after cutting her leg with a knife (even after I tried to reason with her and told her at most to get the immunoglobulin ). How long do I need to keep DD away from her to keep her from getting pertussis?

Not at all. The P component of the vaccine does not shed. Nor does the D or T.

Your mother, just like you, your doctor, anyone else can be a carrier of the pertussis bacteria any time. But the injection only delivered 'dead' bacteria.

Awesome. Imagine explaining to gma that she can't see her grandbaby when she only gets to about once a month if that...yikes!
