Good point, probably not. And in general, certainly I see that my kids are really (still) zinc deficient, and in most people that causes lots of digestive issues, DS and my mom and I are outliers, so most probably do have significant issues there too, and maybe for some, that'd be enough. And maybe it's hard to tell even in the "healthy" population because so many people have stomach acid issues anyway--when digestion gets so far off for so many people, finding good/healthy controls gets tricky.

My notes say that it is thought that DPP-IV breaks down the gluteomorphin peptide but not the gliadin peptide, which is why those enzymes (can) help ASD kids but not celiacs. My dd has no autistic tendencies and cannot eat gluten or casein with or without enzymes.

Interesting! And that makes sense. I'd heard that enzymes can make gluten even worse for celiacs, because they better expose the reactive peptide.
