Best cloth wipes?

I have been using old baby washcloths for wipes but am not happy with them- they're just not that soft, and since I'm using them fairly dry (with a little kissaluvs diaper potion lotion spray) I need more softness for my baby's little bum.

Amazon has babykicks hemparoo ovals available on prime- reviews say they're great except for a large tag. Anyone like these, or have other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I never did understand why they felt the need to put tags on their wipes, since they are the only ones (I think) that make them in an oval shape, and, well, they're just wipes! I make/sell wipes (PM me if you want the web address), with two layers for about the same price as the hemparoo ovals that have one layer.

I use mostly bamboo velour/sherpa, or velour/velour. The velour is soft, but still "grabby" for less solid poops, and I break out the sherpa if there is a sticky poo to be attacked. Bamboo fleece is another good option if you are looking for soft, and the opposite (knit) side would work when you have a situation that needs more "grab". (Although one layer fleece wipes, both in bamboo fleece or hemp like the Hemparoo ones, are thin and on the flimsy side as compared to double-layer wipes. My one-layer bamboo fleece wipes are extremely popular, as are my one layer bamboo terry wipes, so there are definitely people out there who don't mind the flimsy-ness, but I personally prefer my wipes more sturdy.)

Hope that helps!

I use old t-shirts. It never occurred to me to buy wipes, they're just squares of fabric.

We really like the Thirsties Fab Wipes. They are super soft and absorbant (microfleece & velour). I just moisten them under the tap before a change and they are good-to-go. Sometimes we also use a spritz of the California Baby Non-Burning & Calming Diaper Area Wash.

We have also tried the Imse Vimse Organic Cotton Flannelette Wipes. I didn't think that they were soft nor absorbant enough.

Wipes

We've always used plain white washcloths, mostly from the dollar store. I find that the texture helps to pick up sticky poop. You can usually get 30 to $10.

I'm sure that old t-shirts would work well too though. It's certainly something we have a lot of.

I can't see any advantage to buying something that is specifically sold as a cloth baby wipe.

Did you read my original post? I am using washcloths now and am not happy with them, and am looking for something softer. I figure something made to be used as a wipe will be extra soft.

Thanks all for the suggestions! Surfing around now to check them out.

I sewed mine up out of cotton flannel. They are super soft and work really well.

I've used all different kinds, and my favorite are still the Kissaluvs wipes. They are the perfect size and the terry is the best thing for messy poop.

Sorry, I thought that you were using baby washcloths. I meant regular washcloths. I don't find baby washcloths to be particular soft. We had the ones that were stretchy and thin and good for getting into little creases, but the stretch and the thinness meant that they didn't fluff up and get soft in the laundry like regular terry towel fabric.

I like a sherpa wipe to grab at sticky poo, or a flannel wipe for softness. You could get a combo with flannel on one side and sherpa on the other. Or you could get mostly flannel wipes witha few sherpas for stubborn poos.

I have a lot of different kinds too but by far, my favorite are the bamboo terry ones. SIlky soft but they have the loops to get the stickies off. I actually got them at BRU with the diaper warmers. 8 for $10.

i LOVE our 2-sided wipes from Green Mtn Diapers... they have soft cotton on one side, terry cloth on the other. I only need to use one even w/ the biggest BM poos!

we tried several other kinds, but these are our faves...

I like flannel or flannel-velour for pee and flannel-sherpa for poop. I have some in our rotation that are at least 5 years old.

I always used washcloths and just wet them in the sink when I changed my babies. . .I only used water when I changed them. However, when I ordered some new dipes, the company sent me some freebie wipes that I totally loved. . .they were flannel on one side and like velvet on the other--they were awesome. I'll admit I still wouldn't spend money on them, but they were pretty nice. I think this site has some nice wipes. . .

The kissaluvs wipes are basically wash cloths that are a better size (so they fit in the wipes warmer). At only $1 each, I can't imagine actual washcloths would be cheaper...

If you wet cloths in the sink though, you don't need a wipes warmer. And I actually think that $1 each steep. Lots of places have nice washcloths 10 for $5. Most of ours came from the dollar store at 3 for $1. Dollar stores often have nice ones that are only there because they have slightly crocked seams or the size is off by a tiny amount.

I HATE having to wet wipes at the sink. Firstly, I don't always know exactly how many I need. My bathroom is not big enough for a changing table, so I have to go to a separate room, leave my crying baby, wet the wipes, come back, start the change, possibly repeat this process with baby on the floor or wherever when I don't have enough wipes...ugh. I guess a spray bottle would work better for me in that situation, but I really prefer to just have the wipes ready to go, hence the warmer (or even like a tupperware box). I also like to use a little bit of tto and lavender in my wipes solution.

I've never seen washcloths at my dollar store, nor have I seen 10 washcloths for $5.

We have these too and are my favorites so far. I like them much better then the thin flannel ones we also have.

I like Cotton Velour backed in Bamboo Velour. It is my favorite construction combo.

I found keeping a little spray or peri bottle on the changing table eliminates the need to run to wet wipes and baby stays safe.

I really like the ones made by Small Wonders Wipes. I really like her sherpa/flannel combo. She has lots of other fabric combos as well.

I've also since made my own with just two layers of cotton flannel and really like them. I've got an overcast stitch on my sewing machine so I just used that to sew them together. They seem to have held up really well.
