If no one on this thread can answer you, Laurie, you might consider asking in The Homeopathy Support thread.

Or else what do the dogs eat? I'd be willing to bet there's at least one of your triggers, and that they didn't wash up when they were done...

Hey guys, I'm back for a few minutes...I am totally excited to see my first ever naturopath tomorrow. :

Pat, my garden is having the toughest time...most of my home-started op, hl tomatoes and peppers are dead. The wind has just been SO bad, and with the heat on top of that...I just don't know what to do. My parents have some of my plants in their garden and they're great there--much m ore sheltered.

Anyone have a saladmaster? I majorly cut my finger on it today and am having a tough time typing--please excuse errors. Honestly, it is a dangerous tool and I'm thinking its not worth a trip to the ER. (I didn't go, but had it been any worse...). So I have a bum finger on the hand I write with and I'm going out of town tomorrow! Lame. :

CS, hope you get the house!

Wish I knew what forum ya'll are talking about with all the drama--makes me want to go searching... Such a busybody...

OUCH! I don't even know what a saladmaster is, but now I'm glad I don't have one.

We're still waiting (not so patiently) to hear back from the bank. But as of today, we are STILL the only offer on the house!! I think we are really lucking out that the realtor messed up the listing so bad.

Drama's locked for moderator review, I think.

I had a nasty cut on my finger last Halloween (on Halloween evening, of course I was rushing to get dinner done for the kids ), be careful! I didn't baby my finger long enough, started using it too soon, and twice whapped it really hard on things and it started bleeding again, probably took twice as long to heal as it should've. I felt like an idiot. At least you have a gadget to blame, I was just using a knife.

eta, had my window open too long: wow, CS, potentially yay! Can you tell us a bit about the house?
Hey, knives can be SHARP!
Theoretically, the saladmaster is awesome--it just needs a way better guard--supposedly, they've come out with a new one, but it's 25$ and I just haven't coughed it up. Maybe I'll ebay it and get PC's mandolin slicer instead...DH feels badly because he distracted me (I turned to look at DD2's antics, and whammo!).

Dang! Missed out on the drama. Maybe next time!

JR, how ya holdin up?

YAY, CS!!!:::

Man, I hate drama. I hate it even more when I'm part of the cause. : You can have the drama, dannic.

CS, still keeping my fingers crossed for you. : I'd cross my legs too, but I'm hoping the baby'll come out tonight (not that I have any signs it will but hey, I can hope).
I'm kind of annoyed, honestly. I really don't want to be pregnant for another week, which is how long my mw is gone for, and really don't want to birth with a stranger. Wish I could schedule a natural birth.

No, no, No! I don't want to be PART of it, I just want to read it, lol. (like I said--a busy body)

I hear ya on the scheduled natural birth! Sending good vibes your way! (Honestly, this typing thing is NOT working!)

It's just south of Seattle city limits, so we'd be really close to the city (yay!!). That also means it's not the greatest area (or so I've been told... it looked fine to me), but this particular part of the neighborhood looked nice, and the house is on a private drive so there wouldn't be much traffic. It's listed as a 2 bedroom, but is actually 4 + a bonus room (without a closet). The yard is just over 10K sqft, which is not excellent but way better than the average of ~6K. The back yard is nice and open so it should be ideal for a garden. It has a screened in porch which could also house lots of nice plants. It needs cosmetic work- carpets, paint, etc.- but nothing too major. It has a garage, which is a requirement for DP's motorcycle (as well as all of our tools and crap- mine as much as DP's. ) It's perfect, perfect, perfect!

We actually were hoping for another offer to go through- the house was gorgeous, it already had a greenhouse and swingset in the backyard, it was huge.... but it's WAY far out from Seattle and would add an extra hour (minimum) of commute time for DP every day. So I'm thinking that it's ok that our offer is stalled on that one, because now I'm really excited about the Seattle one!!!

CS - my fingers are crossed for you guys!!

hey all, i just ran across this link on how to make yogurt in a crock pot. : now all i need to do is make some almond milk and find my yogurt starter hiding somewhere in my freezer and give it a whirl.
Can you freeze yogurt starter?

So remember how I emailed the Great Lakes Gelatin place? I got the Fedex box today. A huge packet of recipes and a pretty big jar of gelatin as a FREE SAMPLE. I'm so excited. I'm going to make grape "jello" using grape juice tomorrow (pork day, #3 on the rotation).

Yesterday DS went to the osteopath. His stomach was really bothering him this morning. The doctor said he's really improving but his midsection is still sluggish. It's amazing how much energy he has at the end though. He's jumping around the room practically jumping off the walls. And then he came home and pooped. It's just so wacky. I still don't get how it works.

And I'm contemplating trialing white potatoes on Friday (potato chips) on our way to the lake. The rest of us always have them. It was one of those that would send him moaning/screaming in the middle of the night, so I'm not sure that I want to do it. But he seems to be making progress and I'm trying to figure out if I should just leave well enough alone, or see if he's really healing (I tried chicken, turkey, rice, egg all since December and none of them passed, and we had to take out corn, green beans, carrots and almonds since then). What do you think?

So is this common?

I went to see a Functional Medicine doctor (a la Ultra Wellness Solution) in the hopes that I could get some of the non-standard blood testing done (that my primary won't do) to check on nutritional status & detox functioning.

I'll talk more about the "visit" which was somewhat disappointing.

But, he said it will take 2 months to get all the blood test results back. Is this common? I know the IgG testing won't take that long and if it finds something I"d like to act on it sooner rather than later. Or was he just jerking my chain b/c that's how long a followup appt takes to get with this guy?

He had some other interim suggestions I'll run by you ladies later.

I think unless you're trying to do something pretty sophisticated, and maybe at a fairly busy lab, it shouldn't take 2 months. That sounds like a lead-time for follow-up appointments to me.

Just checking in.
Would be nice if the contractions would come sometime other than night. I get excited and then find it hard to sleep.

re: starter... it's actually kefir starter but she says that if you let the kefir go longer it goes to yogurt? did i dream that? it's product.

re: osteopath - that is awesome!

re: gelatin - exciting. keep us posted!

re: potato chips on vacay... we often want to trial "special" things on trips, and then the one time we did (basically had no other choice; was half way across the country) she was up screaming hysterically for hours in the middle of the night. [incidentally, MIL/FIL were in the hotel room next to ours and heard the whole thing. started taking our allergy "issues" waaaaaay more seriously.] so what i'm saying is... maybe trial them another time, well enough in advance and that way if they pass, you have them, and if you don't, you didn't "spoil" the trip...
