"Cut" - was anyone else a little let down?

I just saw the abridged version that is now available on their website. I must say - I was a tiny bit disappointed in it, because I was hoping they would go into MUCH more detail about the results of circing (how it affects sleep cycles and breastfeeding, what the negative impact of the cortisol on the baby, how they don't just "fall peacefully asleep" after but are in severe shock, and so on).

Perhaps the unabridged version may have more of the info I was so hoping for? Has anyone compared the two? I am planning to become a doula and would love to have a really good circ film in my resource library to lend to clients, and would totally purchase the extended version of "Cut" if there is more information included.

Or, barring that, any other really good videos? I just read that the NOCIRC video was less than stellar (despite them being a fantastic organization).

I haven't seen the abridged version yet but the full version I think is only about 10 minuets longer. The DVD also contains additional information in the DVD extras section. They don't go into all the things you're mentioning but it's more information. To be honest I liked the film and thought the Eliyahu did a fantastic job. My only criticism might be that I wished he had focused a bit more on excuses like STDs and analyzed those claims more though I wouldn't discount it as a resource just because it didn't focus on some of those other things. There is a shorter NOCIRC film that discusses stuff more along those lines I can't remember the name but someone will post a youtube link and I think you can get a DVD from NOCIRC at NOCOST.

ETA: I really liked the epilogue though.

I was disappointed that "Cut" did not discuss the function of the foreskin and sexual impacts of circ. The only thing he talked about was about how the scar line sends pain signals to the brain, much less compelling than the sexual impacts and funcitons.

I like the DOC video about the functions of the foreskin. You can find it on youtube by typing in "function of the foreskin". It is in two parts so you have to watch both to see the entire video.

There was another fairly long movie made in the late 90s that might be more of what you're looking for but I can't remember the title right now.

Oh, I do think "Cut" has value, and I appreciated especially how it took on the religious aspect of the debate (though, again, I wish he had talked more about the growing numbers of Jews who are starting to oppose it). *I* liked it myself, but it was very much preaching to the choir. I don't know if a pro-circer would be too compelled by it, is what I'm saying.

I'm interested in the DVD you mentioned but couldn't find it on the NOCIRC site. Only pamphlets.
