We too were on the fence about Vit K. Well, after a really long labor and DS looking like he had gotten into a fight inutero, we got the shot. And I am glad we did. Poor kid looked all bruised in odd places for the first few days.
It is also supposed to help keep bilirubin levels lower (cus it aids in clotting). DS ended up being readmitted to the hospital for 3 days due to his high bili levels. On the first day (5 days old) his level was 23. I can only imagine how bad it could have been had we NOT gotten the shot.
