I'm a condom girl. Over the years we will probably go to FAM only, but I DO NOT want Irish twins, one at a time please!

amen sister. Sirius will not sleep in his bed, I spent 2 weeks trying to get him soothed into it, but whats the point? I need sleep.

I seem to prefer my left the right has a flat nip and he used to have a hard time latching. not as much any more, but I find myself using 'ol trusty' when I NIP or if I am really tired and he wants to comfort nurse.

I have a mamma's milk sling that isn't working out, seems too small. The mei tai works well though.

I wasn't going to cosleep w/ this baby, even though DD still sleeps w/us. I have a crib right by the bed, and well, it hasn't been used at night even once. I have a feeling it willturn into a giant clothes basket soon...

For BC we're back to FAM w/ condoms. We used this for 3 yrs, and the one time we broke the FAM rules was when we got dd. And then it's worked fine for the spacing between dd and ds. Hormonal methods have always either killed my libido or made me sick to my stomach.

I'm just going to get the pouch sling out again when I can do a hip carry.
I have been eyeing the baby K'tan sling! Seems like a hassle free version of the moby.

Oh, we dtd last night. It wasn't terrible but it was far from enjoyable. Um, I better not be fertile either.....just saying.

So we pushed a toddler bed up to our bed for some extra space and for 2 nights Griffin has actually slept on it till his first nursing session. I'm excited about this because i want him to get used to the feel of his crib mattress so that we can transition him into a crib when he starts to get mobile. Its already better than ds1. He wouldn't sleep anywhere but pressed up against me!! I want to be a better nighttime mama this time around. And a little space will help.

I ordered the baby K'tan. I cant wait until it gets here. Im hoping she likes it.

Sophia has been sleeping more on her crib. The past two nights it has been most of the night, only waking up to nurse and then goes right back to sleep and back to her crib. Im happy

I have a Beco which he is to small for and a moby wrap. I love the wrap it is black so before I leave the house I just put it on it looks like a shirt. I can also control wandering fingers from touching him. ( I have a 7 year old and 5 year old we do a lot of school pick ups and drop offs) I have also successfully nursed in it it is perfect for now.

This is my story!!!! Liam sleeps with us and I love it but part of me wishes I could be stronger and more awake at night so we could all have our own space. I do want him to use the crib at some point so I try to have him nap in it. I do have to say they are babies for such a short time I know it will be over before I know it so I will enjoy it for what it is and try not to think of the possible future problems.

I haven't been on here much either. I miss you! Granma and aunt have the boys for the day, so it's just me and lil sister. Yay, peace and quiet!

Babywearing--
I am not liking the pouch a whole lot. Mostly b/c Miriam doesn't like it for long. I love, love, love my wrap again. She loves to be held upright, so the wrap is perfect. I want to finish the mei tai today and see how she likes that. And I'm wanting to try her in the rucksack and see how she does. She is incredibly strong, so I think she'll do fine.

Nursing--
Miriam definitely prefers the left side. I couldn't figure out why until I pumped. I have a serious let down on the right! Poor girl probably feels attacked. So, for now I rely on the left for NIP too. Just too much hassle to do the right, unless I can keep a diaper there to catch the spray as she latches on and off to choke.

BC--
We dtd for the first time last night too. I was on top so I could control things. It was awkward at first, which I think was more nerves on my part than anything else. I'm only almost 3 weeks pp after all. But it was fine and I enjoyed it. I had to stop since I was tender still from the skids.
As far as bc, dh is going in for a vasectomy. 4 kids is plenty for us! We'll use condoms I think for the interim. Not too worried, and it seems really weird to even think about it. After all, I was infertile for 10 years!! It took 16 months for me to get af back after M was born.

Cosleeping--
I am so in love with cosleeping. It is awesome to snuggle up with my sweet girl. Also nice to just lay in bed and not have to get up at night! Dh is so sweet. He had been on sleeping meds and weaned himself from them so he could help me out at night. He's been getting up with E (who still won't sleep all night, the stinker) and if I set Miriam down while I go pee or something, he puts her on his chest and snuggles her so good. He claims that she is just another baby, no different from the boys. Yeah right. He is so in love with his little girl.

Baby beds--
i mostly babywear when I have to get chores done. That is part of why I love wraps so much. I can really use both my hands. But I just got a Kanoe baby hammock. I was going to just get a swing or something off Craigslist, but then I thought about my toddler. Oh my heck, that kid will climb anything. I knew if I had a swing or bouncy or anything he could reach, we'd be in serious trouble! The Kanoe hangs from the ceiling. He can reach it, but it just has the effect of rocking it, which baby loves. So I don't worry so much about it. Right now, Miriam doesn't like it so much, but she has a cold that her brothers were nice enough to give her. So she hates laying down--even in my arms. But she's getting better, so I'm thinking she will like it more as her nose clears up.

Question about drinking water--
I am sucking at it! I was so good during pg. I was thirsty and water tasted pretty good for the most part. Now water tastes gross. I can drink juice okay, but 1) it gets pricey to drink juice all day in the quantity I need and 2) if the boys see me drinking it, they want it over water. I don't want them drinking tons of juice.
What are you all doing to make sure you get enough to drink?

1 month dr appt today...

emma is 9 lb 13 oz! (born 7 lb 4) the dr looked at me and said, that's just from bf? i said yep. he said that's awesome, well keep it up

she's also up to 22 inches... getting so big.

everything looks good, jaundice totally gone, etc, etc, woohooo!

Even better, we took a 3 hr nap when we got home.

and in unrelated but exciting news, pre-approval came through and we're free to start shopping for our first house!

awesome day... needed it after how fussy she was last night.

I LOVE the family naps! We've been getting them (DH, DD1, me and baby!) for the last few days. It's a nightmare trying to get #1 down (different story), but once we do...bliss!

Congratulations on the house shopping! So exciting!

As for the arguing, that is awesome! Made me laugh and also...fantastic marital strategy. ;-)

Maybe DH and I need to try your strategy! Although exhaustion is the main obstacle at the moment...

The midwife gave me the green light to dtd 2 days ago at my appointment, but so far we're both like "Eh, sounds good in theory, but we're too tired!"

For babywearing, I have a Moby wrap and a hotsling for newborn stage. Eli loves them, but I need to remember to actually use them during the day instead of just laying him down and then constantly getting onto DD for bugging him.

I feel like I'm going out of my way to spend lots of extra time w/ dd every day, but apparently it's not enough, bc now she has taken to pooping on the floor. She even pooped next to dh's shoe the other day. I think she is turning into a discontented cat.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who depends more on one breast for NIP! I always use the right side in public, since the left used to be inverted and is thus kind of funky shaped and hard to get latched on w/o showing everything...

Now the feeding from either boob by only laying on one side is a skill I must master
My DH is like this too. He sleeps very deep no matter what, and when DD was a baby I caught him almost smooshing her twice.

With DD it wasn't a big issue, I just stayed vigilant of him, but I'm a little worried this time. I work PRN, which means I fill in the shifts that no one else wants, and usually this means working a night shift every week or so. So I won't be around every night to make sure no one is getting smooshed. I will need to have a talk with him about it before I go back to work. Guess this is another good reason to get Eli used to sleeping in the crib.

I'm so tired today. Sophia has been nursing every 1-2 hours, my boobs are back to being tiny, there's like nothing left in there. She finally fell asleep, but now I need to do stuff and I cant nap with her.

Things still going well here, I'm not as fond of the moby wrap as I thought I would be, all that fabric is just a PIA so far. I'm really enjoying my ring sling at this stage. BF still going very well, can't wait to get him weighed on Tuesday. He slept much better last night and the night before. The magic combo was to put him on his side in the co-sleeper. It feels so good to get some sleep between feedings. Won't be any DTD here until my 6 week appointment, just want to get the equipment checked out first

that is so strange! I didn't know kids would do that! Our cat has taken to pooping in the floor When I first got PG she peed all over my stuff, where I sit on the couch and what not.

Checking in here. Laine is doing well, DS is getting better with the adjustment but we had a very rough night last night when both kids decided to be up and crying. My milk hasn't come in yet so she's been frustrated and gassy, I'm working on it today but its so hard to take care of myself when juggling the two of them. My MIL is here and being a big help, thankfully. DH has been able to call at least once a day so we are communicating well.

I feel so much better in terms of PP healing this time around, I think I would lose my mind if I was sore and couldn't be up and around. My midwife came today and we did Laine's hearing screen and PKU, so now all we need to do is work on getting the milk in.

BC-
Any of you ladies use a sponge before? when the OB came by to discharge me she mentioned it and I'd never given much thought to it. ? Anyone?

DTD-
I have to admit at day 3 pp I helped myself I knew DH would probably be nervous trying to have sex so quick, so I didn't bother him, we DTD the day I went into labor (to try to keep labor going - holy crap it works!) so he's not too bad off yet. Probably will jump him tonight though. Kelly - we are right there with you! we used to be 3 times a day kinda people, only withdraw method for a little over 4 years before getting pregnant. Having kids definately has seen the end of 3 times a day, but we now go through "spells" where its constantly then a week or two w/o by no choice of our own

sleep -
DD3 is sleeping better than DD2 is we are half cosleeping half crib sleeping, if only we could get DD2 to sleep....

lotus.blossom - I LOVE my papasan! In fact Anna sleeps in the papasan in the crib right now since she spits up so much.

rasjane - I am back on dr pepper.... My resolution this morning was only one glass today... I'm on number three.....
