If this isn't labor I quit

Back story - Bloody show this morning, followed by backache and cervical pain/pressure.

For the last hour contractions have picked up but I haven't really timed them yet, they're still concentrated in my back and down low. I put a call in to my midwife to give her a head's up and I'll call her again in an hour. I'm pissed off to be having back labor again, I wish I could just get one labor that didn't feel like a bowling ball was coming out of my tailbone.

Wait-- the bowling ball thing is back labor? I seriously didn't know what to call it.

Good luck, good vibes, congrats-- the next thing I want to hear from you is a birth announcement Wishing you well!

Hang in there, mama. Maybe do some squats to turn that baby! Or have a hot shower? Hugs.

I'm still alone dealing with my toddler right now, he knows something is up and wants to be all over me. I'm getting him dinner and then I will try the shower. This is the exact pattern that labor took with him.

DDC crashing. Hand and knees will help turn a babies position. Squats pushes the baby into the pelvis in what ever position it is in whether that is good or bad. Good luck!

Baby is ROA just like big brother, I know the baby will turn to OA eventually I just need to work on getting these contractions longer and stronger with enough force in my uterus to get it flipped around. I really want this to hold off until he goes to bed because then I can concentrate on doing what I need to but I don't know if I'll get so lucky.

Have you heard of the "belly lift"? Its us where you lock your fingers and pull up starting at your low belly, moving with the contraction all the way up to your top of your uterus. It can change the baby's trajectory from head pointing at an angle straight into your sacrum (therefore irritating your nerves in your low back and sacrum) to head pointing more down toward cervix/vagina.

I learned about it in hypnobabies. I read that it can be pretty effective on easing back labor. I certainly plan to use it if I have any back labor this time too!

Good luck Katie! I hope this really is it for you! Sending love and labor vibes!

I'll try the belly lift. I just got out of the shower and that seemed to help get my contractions more regular. They seem to be at their worst when I'm standing up. I'm going to get DS ready for bed and hope that he'll go to sleep earlier tonight.

Definitely seems like it'll be tonight. I just did a quick check and I'm a good 5cm with bulging bag of water. My midwife is leaving around 8 and she's not too far away luckily.

Yes

About 7cm now and 100% effaced, bag of water is stretched tight on baby's head. I'm still waiting for my midwife. My MIL is calling the red cross for me right now so hopefully DH can call soon.
