Old Style of Ergo

Thread Starter
I purchased a used Ergo about a year ago, and even then it was an older model. It has velcro instead of snaps, and it looks a bit different from the newer types. Anyone know how to use it...we can't really figure out the top/velcro part.

Editing to add: we just tried it on, and DH is a hefty guy. It doesn't fit by 15 inches around the waist! I know about the waist extenders, but those are only 8 inches. Are Ergos not good for overweight people?

Ugh. Feeling frustrated with this.

you might get 2 waist extenders, they just clip together. but i don't know if it'd be comfortable having so many buckles around him?

you might want to look into a nana's jetpak ex. they are designed for larger wearers, and usuallly you can find them gently used on TBW for like $55 or less. or you might find that something with less structure is more comfortable (no webbing and buckles digging in), like a Kozy with XL straps - their XL straps are waist and shoulder straps or a nice long wrap, which is very versatile, though has a bit of a learning curve compared to the mei tai's and SSC's.

as for the old-style Ergo, with the velcro are you referring to the velcro on the sleeping hood? i think you just loop it through the loops on the shoulder straps and then velcro it back onto itself when you need the hood.

ergo doesn't recommend using more than one waist extender at a time.

you might see if you can sell that one and get the ergo sport instead (although as per your other thread, i def. don't think you need it for the newborn stage, so it could wait until baby was 5-6 months old). the ergo sport has a longer hip belt, and if you add the extender to that, it may be more likely to fit your dh.
