Stretchy BO?

For 1x1 ribbing?

I did a standard BO on my sleep sack and the BO has considerably less stretch than the ribbing it's binding off. I'm only familiar with 2 BOs though, and I already tried the other one. Anybody have a great BO for ribbing use?

Bind off options

If you've tried binding off in ribbing and that still isn't stretchy enuf for you, give Elizabeth Zimmermann's Sewn Bind Off a try. You do it with a tapestry needle- pictures and directions for lots of options here:

Ditto.

Also, you can bind off with needles a size or two larger than you used to knit the ribbing in order to make it stretchier.

Try using really big needles to bind off.

Thank you, ladies.

I wound up BO with a 9 - the ribbing was in a 3 - and it's nice and stretchy now. Now I just have to weave the ends and block it and it's done.

You can also bind off in pattern, but I'm a new convert to the sewn BO. I use a long-tail cast on for most things, so the sewn BO complements nicely.

Hi everyone!

I just read a link on another way to do a stretchy bind-off. It hasn't been suggested yet (I don't think), and the pictures/tutorial looks pretty simple. So, thought I'd come back here and share - for anyone else reading this.
