JR's baby pool

JR's said she's going to cut out a few foods once the new baby arrives (trying to keep this allergy-related)... she's a couple days past when she expected the baby, her other boys both showed up a couple weeks before her official due date, so this little one (ultrasound says a boy) is gestating longer than any yet.

So, guesses on date, time, length and weight? I don't know lengths and weights for the first two kiddos so I don't have any point of comparison.

I had to think a bit about my vote. I'm voting Tuesday night, May 19, at 11:30pm. 20" long, 7lb 12oz.

JR, if you want to share lengths/weights of your other two, that'd probably help. As if this is amusing to you at this point.

DS1: Length: 21.5 inches
Weight: 7.11

DS2: Length: 21 inches
Weight: 7.9 (I had to go do a search for my old posts in Breastfeeding to find out how much he weighed )

How about this? Will the new LO have allergies/intolerances? Guesses on what I'll have to take out next?

ETA: Funny. I was just looking up DS2's birthweight when Tanya posted.
And I do find it amusing.

Tuesday, 10am (I found when I had DS that I wanted to labor at night while my DD was sleeping, and then she just got to see the fun stuff in the morning. As good a reason for a guess as any!).

22 inches, 8lb2oz, born in a breeze, and will eat/tolerate anything. Will have a particular fondness for PB and chocolate.

I had to giggle at the fondness for PB. Of course, he'll love Elisabeth...

You would.
That would suck so bad. That's the first day where I'll have to deliver with essentially a stranger.
And you're not allowed to change it.

Today!

Mon. May 18th (DH's b-day - he was born the actual day Mt. St. Helen's erupted, within the hour)

No guess on time...

8 lbs. 2 oz.
21 in.

Oh no! Why a stranger? Is your HCP going out of town or something?

"My" mw is going out of town for the Midwives' Conference in Seattle (she leaves on the 20th at 8am) and the other mw is off this week for her birthday. I've only seen the OB in the practice a couple of times and not since before I was pregnant with DS2, and I've never met the "backup" OB.
I wasn't expecting to go even this long, so it hasn't phased me at all until now. I'm half considering asking my mw if the "offer" to go to Seattle with her still stands.

Yes- come to Seattle!!

That really sucks- I hope my prediction is wrong. For my labor (at least the majority of it) I ended up with the ONE midwife in a group of 7 that I really, really disliked. It was horrible.

So JR, the solution, if little one decides to hang out in there a few more days, it to stay home a really, really, _really_ long time? Just arrive at the hospital with enough time to squat down and push out kiddo? I always figure I need a catcher (vs staying home unassisted), cause I've always felt very busy when I'm pushing, and I think if it were my job to catch baby, well, we'd need a pillow at the very least, because it seems wrong for a baby's first experience in the world to be a head-first fall onto a cold, hard floor.

I'm supposed to go in ASAP because I'm GBS+ and they didn't get all the antibiotics into me last time even though I was there 6 hours before. I'm still not sure how I feel about that even, and I haven't had the energy to really do any research on it. I wish I could have one labour without an IV. Just labour. Like labour's not annoying enough without having a needle in your arm the whole time.
Kind of funny, with DS2, I didn't even think to question the antibiotics during labour. Look what MDC's done to me. ()

If they had 6 hours and couldn't get in 2 doses, well, they're pretty pathetic.

And yeah, it's not the time to tell them that you're not cool with the antibiotics anyway, that whole thing is so frustrating, but then again, a lot of birth stuff is really frustrating.

My prediction is you're going to have it when the time is right, the baby is going to come out really easily with about 2 pushes, the contractions aren't going to hurt, and s/he will be a great weight/height (and not a big head), and no food intolerances. Okay, it's not my prediction for you, just my wish!

I've had the same thoughts. I actually delivered my last baby in a squat and it kind of sucked, lol! Really, it was more painful than my other births (semi-squat/sitting in water; 3/4 sit in bed; sidelying in bed) AND his collarbone broke to boot. So much for that wider pelvis idea.

That's tough.

Water. Water. Water. OK, I'm biased, I had both of my babes in a big water tub. Doesn't much matter how you push them out then .

JR, I wish you a baby with a small head, I think that's the part that really matters .
