Understanding food intollerances - looking for info

This isn't technically about allergies - so I hope it's o.k. to post this here.

My 2.5 year old son was tested last week for food intollerances by our naturopath. I sought her advice after being told by my normally wonderful MD that his random rashes and intestinal issues were no cause for concern. My instincts told me otherwise.

The naturopath did the Carroll Method Food Intolerance Test (a simple blood test). We will get the results back in 7-10 days. Not being the patient type, I'm doing what I can to find info about food intollerances now. She's fairly sure he has one, we just have to figure out what exactly my son's gut has issues digesting. The blood test will tell us.

Can anyone here refer me to a good place online for info about food intollerances? I'm not having much luck finding info in the more mainstream sites (WebMD, etc.) Also, if anyone else has had a family member who was tested with the Carroll Method for food intollerance, I would appreciate knowing if the information gained from that test was helpful in resolving your family member's health issues.

Thank you!

Welcome!

You are absolutely in the right discussion group to learn about food intolerances. The women here know a lot, and I'm sure one of them will be by in a short while to give you some websites.

I have not heard of the Carroll method.

Here's one place to start: changingseasons blog. I don't know about the Carroll method, but most blood tests are only a starting point. They all have alot of false positives and false negatives.

There was one other mama a while back who was asking about the Carroll method as well. I'm not sure if she ever got an answer from anyone. You might want to do a forum search. It may have been asked in the more general Health and Healing forum though.

ETA: Here's the thread in which it was mentioned. Perhaps if you post there, the OP might have some information?
