PP chat for Mon 5/18-Wed 5/20 - Page 5

I'm going on a three night trip to Ottawa with my husband and the baby next week, and leaving my 3 1/2 year old at home with grandma. It's the longest that I'll have ever been away from her (and she's done two nights away from me only with my husband). And I can't wait. I feel like going away with just one kid will be such a treat. I told my husband it would be like a honeymoon. If people took infants on their honeymoon, that is

I have days of really enjoying being with my older daughter, and days of muttering swear words under my breath. And most days that are somewhere in between.

I just wanted to say hi to all of you, and I hope to eventually join the PP-chat, too. Right now, life with LO is a little overwhelming, and I'm trying to figure out the ins and out of nursing, sleeping, bathing, etc.

Hugs to all who need them!

wohoo, Phoebe gained 11 oz in one week (as of our MW appt yesterday) so slow weight gain worries are OVER, she's totally made up for the bad second week of growing, and I can just nurse her on demand and stop worrying if she sleeps 5 hours at night (which, by the way is GREAT except if you are worrying about slow weight gain).

hungry baby again, gotta go

One month old in an hour.

. . and he's giggling in his sleep while farting in my lap.

Who could ask for more?!

Re older children - dd1's favorite game lately is becoming "the nurse who taught the class" (meaning the sibling prep class). I get to be me and the baby gets to be the baby, so it's pretty easy, so long as I can keep dd1 from getting too bossy.

Actually I had this particular nurse one day in the hospital. She was fabulous, one of my favorites, so I don't mind at all. There was the one day that dd wanted to be the last day's nurse--because she's "the one who helped me come home"--but the woman was such a dingbat I had a hard time getting excited about that game.

We sometimes do princesses; but mostly dd just reassigns our roles (she's a mom, I'm a dad, dh is the "honey," i.e. the kid), so as long as we remember what our new names are, we're okay and can carry on as usual.

So pretend is OK. Helping her with art sets, given by well-meaning relatives, that are way above her capabilities is something else entirely.

my son doesn't like daytime - nights are great - there is no crying and i get to sleep! He likes to cry in the day if he's not held a certain way or by me, or even then sometimes it's not good. He does love the sling, but when i test fate and try to put him down for 2.5 to pee I get a screaming baby that is pissed I dared to put him down. I so hope he outgrows this, and soon!

I actually got cleaning done today!! Bathrooms clean except for shower, living room is picked up and vacuumed just needs dusted, kitchen floor is mopped, dishes done, counters clean, dining room floor clean.

Ahh so nice to see a clean place. Now to tackle those 50 loads of laundry that keep multiplying. I better do them soon or we'll all hae no clothes to wear.

my dh came up to me today and said, "mommy, what have you been teaching our daughter?" DD just realized ds has different parts than her. So she asked what it was and I told her a penis. She is convinced I said peanuts and refuses to call it anything but that! She informed dh he has peanuts! one for the baby book

s to you too.

About the bathing, I get into the bath tub with my newborn. Its so much easier to clean her that way. I know that every family has their own way that makes it easier for them and I respect that, I was just sharing with you another option.

Hope you can work out your nursing. The breastfeeding forum is super supportive. They might be able to help. Have you gone to your local LLL meeting? Or a LC?

Are you co-sleeping?
