Question ...

Ok I have a quick question.

I am having a local SAHM make all my LOs diapers. She's making a mix of AIOs and t-shirt diapers.

On to my question ... Can you use a diaper genie to help with the smell in between cleaning? All it does it put it in a plastic bag that you can open right? I am thinking it would be like a trashliner that I would just pick up and take to the laundry. Am I right or totally off base with this one?

TIA!

Diaper Pail Thoughts

There is a diaper pail called the Diaper Champ that kind of works with cloth diapers. We had one that we got as a gift. It doesn't twist the diapers up in a long plastic bag or anything, it just has a mechanism that works sort of like an airlock so you can put diapers in without opening the pail.

We used it for awhile with our first, but eventually gave it up and just went to five gallon buckets from the hardware store. The Diaper Champ doesn't hold a lot of diapers, and bigger diapers didn't fit through the mechanism as well as small ones.

What makes diapers stink is sitting in a dark, moist place like a diaper pail. When we stopped putting a lid on the pail, and started letting the diapers dry out, we ended up with a virtually stink free pail.

You can also get little pucks to put in your pail to help with odor, We have tried these as well, and didn't feel like they did much.

In theory, you probably could use a diaper genie, but getting the diapers out of the plastic bag to wash would be a lot of work, and require you to handle the dirty diapers a lot.

I use my diaper genie with a wetbag. Works like a charm!
