DD1's upcycled bookshelf

DD1's birthday is today and for part of it I decided to redo her room (which is perfect timing since she's recently started actually sleeping in it ). She has had this old dresser for the longest time and I hate it. I managed to get her a new one and asked my brother to make this one into a bookshelf. I love what he did with it! I just wanted to share pictures real fast. Other than nails nothing was bought for this. We reused all of the dresser (he's making her a shelf for the wall out of one of the remaining drawers right now..pics to come). The shelving needed a bit of stability so we used an old shelf out of my garage for those. On top of those are the drawer bottoms (particle board basically). He stained it in a way to make it look a bit antiquish. I'm really loving it! He used two different colors of stain (put the lighter one on the top of the shelving).

Dresser before
Down to the skeleton
Shelving in- tops not on
Ready for sanding
Sanded top
Ready for stain- oddly crappy picture
Stained top
From the front..it's sitting up on a base here so he could get edges. The pic was taken at like 8 this morning so the sun is nie and bright...thus making it hard to get a good pic.
From the side...pay no attention to the dings...this baby is at a minimum 5 years old and in a kids room. That said, I love the dings. This has a feel of already being "broken in". I am so in love with this! I can't wait to see the shelf.

That is so cool! What a great way to re-use a piece of furniture.
