reading eggs

I did the free trial for my DD she loves it, she is learning so much, our offer expired right after she finished the first 10 lessons, so now i am deciding if we will pruchase, i dont plan to send her to to kindergarten but most likely will send her to 1st grade, and i was hoping this would keep her up with the others kids, it is a bit pricey for us though, with one income and all, so i was hoping someone could lead me to a maybe a promotion site or promotion code if there is one. and I would love to hear input from others on what they thought about the site and how their kiddos did with it.
thanks!

we used it for 6 months and it was well worth the money. i will probably purcahse it again next fall for my ds starting kindergarten. the price offered is in australian $$ - so when it's coverted to american $$, it's actually even cheaper for you!!

My DD loves it too. She is 6 yrs old, just starting to sound out words, but writes a lot on her own, in her own way. I think it is really teaching her a lot, but she does get bored with the repetition. Some of the games have them do something about 20 times before they get to move on to the next thing. She really hates that and will ask me to help her, or she'll point to the answer and I click it for her. She hates repetition in anything though, so I'm amazed she does the site at all. She also doesn't like how every level is the same format. 10 games or so, then a story, then you get the egg critter.... But she loves guessing what is in the egg and then seeing it hatch so much. She's on map 6 now and actually hasn't wanted to play for about 4 days now. She's been writing a ton more than when we started though, and started trying to sound out words when before she would just say she didn't know how to read yet. Direct instruction from me was a brick wall.

We are one income too (and quite tight at the moment). I wish I had a code for you. I was happy that the currency conversion made it possible for us. I figure that this is a great thing for the beginning of summer. My dd WANTS to do this, but she doesn't like working with me on reading. So, I feel that we can continue throughout summer without it seeming like year round school.

I think this works really well with dd though. Even the monotonous clicking -- I see how this works for her when it would have been annoying to Anna. Also, I am not so patient with the learning to read thing and the computer helps take some of the stress off me!

My dd loves Reading Eggs! I know that she is retaining some of it, mostly sight words. I do wish that the site did a better job of blending sounds. But we can learn that separately.

Dd loves hatching critters. That is definitely her favorite part! She looks forward to taking them back to the map to see what they do.

I was holding off buying it until I found out (here!) about the conversion difference. I think it's well worth $6/month.

We loved the trial, but my daughter hated the extreme repetition on some of the screens, like others said. She loved the "eggs"! We got pretty far too in our trial.

Money is tight now, so I haven't purchased the program yet, but am still thinking about it... Not sure about ReadingEggs or just using books... Or maybe another website... Headsprout is not appealing to us, I'll check out ClicknRead.com and then make a decision soon.

We use reading eggs and headsprout and love them both and find both worth the money (we did get headsprout half off, and my second child was half off of that, so....).

My children loved it for 3-4 weeks! My 6 year old especially enjoyed it! She loved collecting eggs/tokens and buying new games. She also really enjoyed watching the eggs hatch at the end of every level. She would print off her certificates at the end of the 10 lessons. They haven't wanted to play it for the past 2 weeks. I'm hoping that they'll go back to it soon. My 4.5 yr old got tired of it when they started asking her to do words instead of letters. Too hard for her. She's near the end of the first 10 lessons.

Give studydog.com a look see, so many of my friend kids love it and will sing praises all day long.

We got 20% off Reading Eggs simply by contacting them and asking for a discount because money was tight. I emailed them and they phoned me back 30 minutes later to set up my account!
