We're a family of six considering a year abroad. My husband has his own software company so we can live anyplace with highspeed internet. We homeschool. We're Catholic. We adjust pretty well to city life or backwater life, as long as there is easy transit from the backwater to the city. My husband has distant relatives in Sicily, but I don't think he's ever had contact with them. He is romantic about his heritage, however, and prefers Italy to all other possible locations. Taking all this into consideration, where in Italy would we be happiest?

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Well I've only been here 9 months, but I really love it here. We live in the Friuli region. It's close enough to get to Venice and Florence, and Slovenia relatively fast. We live in a very small town and had a lot of trouble getting internet hooked up. There is not high speed internet in a lot of areas. I guess my only complaints is that people are not incredibly friendly here. I know further south people tend to be more approachable and friendly. Oh, and trying to get anything done here like get internet or phone hooked up is an absolute nightmare, and can take months, there is no concept of customer service here. good luck...

We lived in Trento for 3 months last year and absolutely loved it. It is in the north east of Italy, surrounded by mountains, not far from Verona and Venice. The people were incredibly friendly and helpful - although they were always saying how the people in that region were not as friendly as in the rest of Italy.
Many people, especially older women, were constantly stopping us and congratulating us on the size of our family (only 4 children!).
Trento is a small town, lots of parks and green spaces, good for walking, pretty good public transport. We are in the Uk now and really miss Italy.
