Tennessee and religious exemption...

Anyone familiar on the rights ect? Or know a site I can go to. Ds is only 3 and it will be a bit before he goes to school but I would like to be as prepared as possible to fight if needed. Especially since God only knows what will happen with our healthcare system or anything else for that matter now. Anyway. The only time I was ever asked about them really was with WIC and I signed a form saying I was taking a religious exemption and it was never mentioned again. I get soooo sick of hearing..."he won't be able to go to school without shots"... Thanks in advance

I think you have to request a green form from the Dept. of Health and write a letter stating that the practice of vaccination is against your religious beliefs.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I live in TN also, and my daughter is only 18months but I went ahead and got the exemption form off of Tennessee's state website. Here is the link to the form: http://tennessee.gov/education/schoo...ormED-5379.pdf

I didnt know if I would need anything else so I emailed a person off of the website and she said that this form should cover it. You can also go to the health department and get an exemption form there, but I found it much easier to just print this one off at home myself instead of having to deal with people who won't respect my decision.

: I'm not sure what that statement means?

However, I'm in TN too. The form above (post 3) is all you need.

Some of the schools may give you a hard time b/c it's not well known. Do not tell them anything other than "vaccinations are against my religion. I do not wish to discuss my religion with you beyond that."

If they ask "why" don't go into it ...you do not have to, by law. Some secretaries will try every way in the world to force you to vax, but just hold your ground.

Thanks... and the statement just means... with the way this world is going now...who knows what will happen. I just read about the kid with cancer, who's parents chose to do alternative meds and they are possibly going to make him do chemo again....

Ah, gotcha! Yes, that is disturbing!

I was afraid some new law was going into effect in TN or something!
