Will crochet edge keep stockinette from rolling? What will?

Hi, I just finished this little top for my dd:
http://soulfulhuesknits.blogspot.com...-top-with.html

And it's just a little too short. If the bottom would stop rolling, it would be fine. I tried a picot bind off first, but that rolled, too. Would crocheting around the edge stop the rolling? If not, is there anything I could do?

I'm out of the yarn, so would use a darker blue to trim. This dang skein of TLC had 3 KNOTS in it!: Otherwise I might have been closer to having enough.

Thank you!!!

I'm not sure about a crocheted edge - might depend on what stitch you use.

Ribbing would prevent rolling and would look nice. Looks like the yoke is 1x1 ribbing. You could do a 1x1 ribbed edge on the bottom and on the sleeves in your contrasting colour - make it look intentional. Or, if you rip back about 4 rows of stockinette stitch you can knit the last 4 rows in 1x1 rib and not use the other colour at all.

Other knitting stitches that would work:
- garter stitch (would only need to redo 3 rows - 1 purl, 1 knit, 1 purl, then cast-off)
- seed stitch

Humph. OK, I think you're right. I was hoping there was something magical I could do to fix this I guess I'll just pick up stitches and add a contrasting trim to the bottom in seed stitch. Then maybe sc around the sleeves so the contrast doesn't look completely random??

Eh, or maybe rip back. I totally pieced together the last row with scraps of yarn, so at least I'd have fewer ends hanging out. I could just buy another skein, of course, but I'm so disgusted by all the knots this one had I refuse to bring another skein into this house! Some yarns I'd expect that, but not this type, kwim?

Thanks for your response!!

Can you just block it? That would take out the rolling for now...until it gets washed.

I would pick up stitches (or frog back) and add a seed stitch or ribbing.

Wow! I just looked at the pic--CUTE! I would not do ribbing, but a seed stitch or something more decorative. You wouldn't want to lose the looseness of hte hems. I will have to knit that for DD!

It doesn't look to short in the pics. I'd leave it. Very cute!

I agree! I think it's adorable as is! If I had a girl I'd be shopping for the yarn to make it for her right now.

Whoops--I should have clarified! That pic is the blog of the pattern designer I put that link to show the pattern. I don't have a pic yet of the one I made.

And it is an awesome pattern and so easy!

Thanks for the advice--I'll be picking up stitches and doing seed stitch, I think.
