Which St. Louis playgrounds are worth a drive?

With the warm weather upon us, I'm looking for cool *free* things to do with my daughters this summer. We live across from a park with a nice playground, but it's gets boring to go to the same place every day. So, I'm wondering if anyone has an suggestions for playgrounds that would be worth driving to.

Here's my suggestions:

Tilles Park in Ladue for the fountain playground

Vlasis Park in Ballwin for the awesome play structure and nice shade for mom.

I live right in the middle of Vlasis/Ballwin, Central/Chesterfield and Faust/Chesterfield and I'd say they are all great for various reasons.

Vlasis is wonderful for climbing and the water.
Central is generally a bit more quiet with a high climbing structure for active kids.
Faust has a nice play area, but there are hiking paths that are great for little kids.

I agree with you about Tilles - it's my favorite!

I would add DeMun in Clayton, especially when you're not in the mood to chase children the whole time - it is completely fenced! I love it for that reason. As long as I keep an eye on everyone, I can relax and have fun - I don't have to worry about anyone running into the street or going someplace that's "off limits." It's not a huge playground, but that's never bothered me - it's just a fun place to play and relax.

When we lived in St. Louis Suson Park was one of our favorites. Along with a great playground they also have farm animals to visit.

We love: Tilles Park, Carondelet Park, St. Francois Park, and there is also a great park in Webster Groves at Marshall and Big Bend that DS likes to go to. It has a huge soccer field where you can fly kites or the kick the ball around.

Deer Creek Park! That's what I was going to recommend because I'm very fond of the rocket slide. However, there isn't as much as I'd like between the playground and the street.

they tore down the rocket slide and replaced it with a stupid small slide.

Thanks for the suggestions! I thought of one more...

Tower Grove Park for the wading pool and splash fountains. According to the park's website, it's opening in mid-June.

There's also Des Peres Park (nice playground, lake, water play area) and the playground in Forest Park that's next to the visitor's center and the history museum.

We recently discovered Lafayette Park (in Lafayette Square). It has a great playground and big duck pond, beautiful garden, bridge, etc. We also went there just to do something NEW! and were quite pleased.

Oh yeah, and White Cliff Park, near Grant's Farm. There's a really nice playground and hiking trails. This is a really helpful thread! I'm getting some good ideas here.

We spent every Saturday morning last summer at the Farmer's Market, playground, and fountains!

I like Simpson park in Kirkwood/Valley Park (not sure which it's in) It's on Marshall rd. It has a lake, playground, and walking path.

I also like Whitecliff park. If you're ever at Grant's farm, since they don't let you take food in, you can picnic at whitecliff. If you go up the hill into the park, there's a playground and some trails that are easy enough for little ones.

We also love going to the Tower Grove farmers market and playing at the playground and fountain.

I like Fenton Park by the river at Gravios and 141. It has 2 playgrounds and a wonderful paved path that winds around the park.

Is that next to the old bridge that they closed down? I thought that was called Mini ha ha park? Or is that a different park. It sounds like the one you are describing.

We love Mini Ha Ha. Whenever we go to fenton feed, we usually head over there as well. WE park on the fenton side and walk across the bridge - DS loves this - and then play in the park and the woods. I live being near the river, even if it is the meremac.
