Crochet patterns for baby toys

My 3 month old has started to reach for things and mouth them. I'd like him to have some non plastic things to put in his mouth so I thought I'd crochet some. However, I'm not really finding any patterns. I thought I could at least find a teething ring, but everything seems to be knitting patterns.

Any ideas? Thanks!

If you're willing to spend a little money for the pattern, this shop on etsy has some ADORABLE stuff:

I want to learn to crochet just so I can make the play food!

Thanks!

I actually have a play food "store" so I do my own play food. I do like her baby grab ball though!

The finger puppets are cute. I bet my 3 year old would love to have some of those as well.

If you can make a hat, you can make a ball. Same general idea, but you only work two or three rounds even, then decrease it back down to the start. Esther has one of these that she still plays with. I've made a lot of dolls too. A simple doll will take him far. There are a few amigurumi patterns here. My octopus pattern is here; the girls really like that.

Thanks for all the ideas! These are great.

I especially love the ring/loop toy, that's perfect for his age!!
