Does vinegar as rinse aid help dry dishes (in the dishwasher)

I'm ordering coupons right now and wondering if I should bother to get the one for the rinse aid that I usually use.

Thanks

What do you mean, help dry dishes?

A rinse aid just helps prevent spotting on dishes, that's it's only purpose. There is no need to buy a specially formulated one, because they are just acid - white vinegar works really well for that purpose, is cheaper and more environmentally friendly.

I pour a bit of vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher and it seems to help with residue/spotting.

My dishwasher manual says that in order for the drying cycle to work effectively, you need to add rinse aid. I've noticed that when the rinse aid is low, my dishes are still wet.

I'll try vinegar tonight and see what happens!

I, too, find that if my dishwasher isn't drying properly, it's because I'm out of rinse aid. At that point, I notice that the dishes aren't getting totally clean either. If I don't have more rinse aid on hand, I definitely pour white vinegar in and it seems to work quite well, definitely immediately improves the drying aspect. So far, I always tend to go back to rinse aid again, but I probably don't need to...

this is interesting about the rinse aid. I've noticed my dishwasher lately isn't completely drying the dishes. I will have to try vinegar in the dispenser, I know at some point DH had put jet dry in there, maybe it had some all this time and is now gone?

I use it successfully as a rinse agent. I love it.
