Nope. I have an extreme dislike of him. If he comes on the screen, my DH knows he has to change the channel or mute it quick or I get nasty.

Iron Chef Japanese (not American - the chairman doesn't have Kaga's charisma)
Diners, Drive-ins and Dives - I get lots of great ideas from this one, although it's not technically a cooking show

Those are pretty much the only two I watch anymore. If I catch them, I'll watch Ming Tsai, Martin Yan (I just like his attitude), Lydia Bastianich, but that's about it. Most of the cooking shows anymore either have really irritating hosts, recipes that contain ingredients I'd never use, or are just generally blah.

I like Bobby Flay but i don't love him. I watch his show throwdown once in awhile but I really hope he loses when i do LOL. I think the whole premise behind it is not cool.

I hated Bobby Flay for years... like ever since the FoodNetwork began, but I like him now. I love Throwdown.

I love Nigella.

I liked the Old Naked Chef, but haven't really gotten into Jamie Oliver's newer shows.

Paula Deen and Ina Garten are two faves.

And although the FoodNetwork feels a need to show way too many cleavage shots of Giada diLaurentis, I like her...and her recipes always turn out great.

I used to have a major crush on Jacques Pepin in the late 80s/90s.

I adore Julia Child whenever I catch her old shows.

I like Daisy Martinez... who I used to see on PBS when I lived in Brooklyn, but who isn't on my PBS here.

I love Ming Tsai... and I love the analness of America's Test Kitchens and the Martha Stewart Everday Food show.


Am I the only one who can't wait for "Julie and Julia" this summer????

I would love a good Indian cooking show... as well as a good Middle Eastern one.

I love Julia Child too. Where do you watch her shows? I hadn't heard about that movie, but now I am SOOO going to see it.

Did anyone else love the Frugal Gourmet? I remember him and Mr Rogers being my favortie shows to watch. I must have been a strange child...

I would love to watch a show that featured Indian recipes. I am so intimidated by Indian cooking but I loooove the flavors. I would really appreciate watching someone cook it so that I could learn. Even if they just did one show where they did saag paneer and gulab jamun I'd be :.

I dislike Bobby Flay as well, I think it was from the time on Iron Chef New York where he jumped up on the cutting board at the end of the battle.

I used to see old Julia Child on my PBS in NY. They had the Baking with Julia episodes... and also the Jacques and Julia ones. :

I used to love the Frugal Gourmet too! He died in 2004. He was accused of abusing young men... and that's why (at least I think why) his show went off air.

I also liked Graham Kerr's cooking show from back then.

If I could learn to make pav bhaji and masala dosas, I'd be forever happy.

Oh, that makes me sad about thr Frugal Gourmet. His cookbooks are excellent. If you canfind it, The Frugal Gourmet on Our Immigrant Ancestors has great recipes from all over the world.

I remember Graham Kerr, he was interesting too!

Will always love Good Eats. Feasting on Asphalt was great. I suspect Alton Brown has a massive ego, though!

Totally agreed. I've been experimenting with Middle Eastern food and would love to know more.

That's it, exactly. I was stunned. His opponent looked stunned, too. I've forgiven him for the most part, but he's still not my favorite. He redeemed himself somewhat in the episode of Throw Down with the woman who made falafel. He won but he clearly thought she deserved to win. At the end of the show he made a comment, separately, that he couldn't recommend her food enough (or something like that) and if you're ever in the part of New York definitely come try her falafel.

Edited to say, I found what he said,

"Nothing against the judges but [Challenger Chef]'s falafels are the best in the country. If you want good falafels, come here!"

Watching him on Throwdown is what has made me like him. He always seems to root for the person he's against... and is such a "good" loser, for lack of a better word. He really seems to appreciate the talents of everybody he's up again... and doesn't have a "I'm a famous chef and you're not" type attitude.

I, too, love "Top Chef."
