Alright, well my DH will not try my ring sling or wraps, so we're looking at carriers that would work well for newborns and fit my fluffy DH. I've heard Kozys work well with large folks, but are they good for newborns? If not, what two shoulder carrier (non-wrap) might work better? Thanks!

i don't think Babyhawk's XL straps are waist straps, i know the OP's DH needs XL waist straps.
i loooove Kozys with a newborn, in fact it's my favorite newborn mei tai (and my favorite MT period, TBH) because it's nice and wide so you can froggy them without big gaps on the sides. you should check out her website, there are lots of good picture instructions on wearing the Kozy with a newborn
i use them even for a high back carry too with itty bitties. you might not even need to fold it down to shorten it, at least not when you're froggying baby's legs. i never did.
