We need a name for our new guy! Golden retriever, 2ish years old, great, sweet boy.

The name choices are: Harper, Murphy, and Arbor. Harper is the name the rescue gave him so he has had it for about a month now. I think he would be fine with changing if that is what we decide. So, vote away, please! If you have any other names you think he just has to have, feel free to suggest.

Beautiful dog and I LOVE Murphy! Cute, cute, cute! FWIW: Golden's love water and Murphy means "sea battler," which is also appropriate because he is a rescue dog. Can you tell I love symbolism?

Personally, I would not use Murphy, but thats because I have met pretty many dogs (especially goldens) with that name

Murphy! he is sooooo cute! murphy has better nicknames... murf, murf-murf, urfie... and it's more fun to yell than arbor... "NO Murphy" is more fun than "No Arbor!"

I vote for Harper, then Murphy, then Arbor. But if he were mine I'd be calling him Rusty! Or Ruben so that I could call him Ruby as a nickname

SO CUTE! DH wants a Golden next time we get a dog and it's hard not to want one with those pics! I think Harper is great, and he already knows it... BUT when I first saw your list after looking at the pics I thought 'Murphy'. I think that suits him.

My 2 y/o female Golden has that same beautiful reddish color. I love it! I like the name Harper, it seems to suit him. Hope you're all settling in well!

In the end (and after polling my facebook friends ) we went with Harper. Actually, Harper and Murphy just about tied in the polls. So, we decided to stick with Harper because I think he has a bit more of a Harperish demeanor. And, bonus, he already responds to it. (Murphy is his middle name, btw).
