Help my hair?

I've been using Nature's Gate shampoos (the Chamomile & Lemon Verbana, and now the Asian Pear & Red Tea), but am beginning to suspect they may be causing my hair thinning... I had been attributing my hair issue to postpartum hair loss for the last year, but DD is 14 months now, shouldn't those days be past?
So, as I am not ready to un-poo, does anyone have any 'safe' shampoo suggestions for me? :
At this point, I am even considering going back to conventional shampoos (I used to use Aussie) for a month or two, just to see if my hair stops falling out!

Well, for the moment I have switched back to Aussie. Until I can find a better option...
I am also going to try cutting my hair, maybe that will bring back some thickness. (currently at the top of my butt, going to cut it to about middle of my back.)

Good luck - I don't see how the Nature's Gate would make it fall out though....if you pull it into a tight pony tail then that would be bad.....

I do usually tie it back, though not all that tight. That can cause it?

Are you still breastfeeding? I continued to lose hair past 14 months, I want to say it didn't really stop until I weaned DS1 at 2.5. I didn't go bald or anything but I def had hair falling out much longer than I would have liked. Hormones are crazy things!

I am still breastfeeding, yes, and DD is a frequent nurser.
So there are many possible reasons for this?

I don't know if this would help under the circumstances, but I love my CalBen Shampoo. You have to order it online, but it is well worth it. My formerly very greasy shampoo can go much longer before it gets greasy now. And it's not leaving my hair dry either. Oh, and it's a soap, so it's safe.
Good luck!
I'm a bad one to do the ponytail thing, too. I think I'll try to keep it to a minimum. My hair's not overly thin, but I'm pregnant and breastfeeding so I think precautions are a good idea.

Have you had your thyroid checked lately?

Wow, I seem to be asking that question alot lately...

Anyway, thinning hair can be a symptom along with many others. Check the health and healing forum, there are a few big threads about thyroid and symptoms of hypothyroidism.
Good luck, hopefully its nothing big and easily remedied.

Oh, Is your hair dry? If it is, coconut oil can help if used as a conditioner. Dry hair tends to break easier.

I have never had my thyroid checked O_o But now you've made me paranoid
I wikipediad the symptoms, quicker... I have some, but most I was attributing to other things (i.e. weightloss, attributed to diet changes and chasing an increasingly active toddler, etc).
Might be something to look into though if the shampoo, hair cut, not tying it back don't help. It's not excessive hair loss, just annoying and not as thick as I remember it being

if you decide it is the shampoo or if you jsut want to try alot of moms around here make fabulous shampoo bars. i use one and i reallly reallly realllllly like it.

but in the mean time i highly suggest getting your vitamin and minerals checked. one imparticular is vit. b along with your thyroid...
